Another dimension
Saw a promo of this prob on the Watchmen directors blu-ray so bought it as a DVD version secondhand on Amazon . To me it an interesting addition to the Watchmen cannon . Only started reading the hard-back of Watchmen recently after seeing the film & I feel an obsession coming on . This is not just a page/pane scan but brings movement to the drawings whilst bringing the artists artwork & colours to the BIG screen & as I,m watching it on a 55" it's nothing like reading the printed page - it,s different . personally I love it . Some have complained of the single readers voice for all characters but I,ve got a collection of books on CD narrated each by a single reader , again for all the characters so personally never thought twice on it as I,m used to it . Enjoy !

Really quite odd
It's a strange one this. I've owned a copy of the comic since the late 80s and have reread it many times since. The idea of this "motion comic" sounded intreaging so I decided to give it a go.It's just as it is described on the box "The Graphic Novel Comes to Life Page by Page". It's Dave Gibbons art with a bit of animation thrown in to generate a motion effect (the people move across the page, chains swing, we have a bit of panning and zooming but nothing too complicated). There are speach bubbles and the words are narrated. It's a bit like an audio book with a single narrator with the pages being flipped from frame to frame. The narrator is a bit limited, all the voices sound very similar, but that doesn't really matter as the words and the art speak for themselves. Nothing essential is missed and whilst the initial experience is quite odd, the whole thing is enjoyable.

WATCH-IT !
WELL I had not seen the live action movie or read the comics so I bought it watched it and was drawn in to a world of fact and fiction. The time line was 1980,s and i can see how it came across as mix of both real and unreal events, its strange to see the table has turned on the AFGAN issue but i enjoyed stories within stories. Only complaint was the narration should had have a FEMALE for the femalesin the story, i have since bought the 2 disc live action set and in comparision i preferred this version as some of the detail were left out.But all in all a great buy for my collection.

Good adaptation
Another bargain - I paid £3Ironically this is a great way to read the comic.Initially I sat with the book while I watched as I was curious how faithful it would be. I actually noticed things that I hadn't while reading and while tiny elements are cropped it's pretty much an exact copy of the comic.Odd that they chose to have one fella read all of the parts which is only problematic when he comes to the female parts but over all very good.

Pointless, but still utterly riveting.
As a curiousity buy Watchmen: The Complete Motion Comics is probably one of the better purchases I've made over the years. It's an odd beast that simultaneously showcases the fantastic art of Dave Gibbons (and captures the mood of Alan Moore's bleak tale as a result)and manages to be a rather wonderful example of how cheesy voice acting can go a fair way towards screwing up dramatic tension, a problem further exacorbated by the fact that the same actor dubs all of the voices throughout the story, including the women! All the same there is no arguing with the sheer quality of the comic and it does shine through here but it all begs the question: Why not just read the book?

A great release with only one misstep
The narrator Tom Stechschulte does a great job voicing Rorschach, Dr. Manhattan, Veidt and the others; the only misstep made is that Stechschulte also voices Silk Spectre and her mother, which makes those characters sound like they are men in drag! The way the illustrations are animated is pretty cool and the music is very good as well.
