Works perfectly, read this if you're on a Mac
I originally had no luck getting this thing to work on my MacBook Air 4,2, and I attributed it to buggy drivers, as it worked fine with Windows. After writing a less-than-happy review about it here, I was contacted by Aaron with Plugable Support (yes, *they* contacted *me*) asking what they could do to help. Fast-forward several weeks of support emails and debugging, and Aaron finally helped me fix the issue, which isn't with this product at all, but with the app "Android File Transfer". It interferes with the hotplug-ability of at least this adapter and the Apple equivalent (you might want to Google for "Apple USB Ethernet cannot hotplug after 10.7.4" to confirm this if you wish).I.e., if you can plug in this or the Apple adapter (possible even more brands) and boot and get a connection, but unplugging it and plugging it back in will make the adapter non-functional, check to see if you have the "Android File Transfer" app installed and get rid of it. I didn't even know I had it installed, I'm guessing it either came with Samsung Kies or Heimdall. Now that it works, I'm really happy about it. The build quality is great, it's quickly recognized when plugged in and assigned an address from the router, and the speed seems to be top-notch (remembering that you're using a USB2.0 port, so the max theoretical bandwidth is 440 MBps, not 1000MBps (neither of which are attainable in practice)).I also got to get the most professional and courtous product support I've ever had. And this even when the problem turned out to be with either Google's Android app or Apple's driver framework and not this product.I'm happy!

Missing features
In addition to no compatibility with MacOS, here are 3 more features it does not have that you should know about:This product not functional on Windows 10This product not functional on Windows 11This product not functional on Linux Debian 12A pity there's no option to give it the zero stars it deserves. I have also tried the USB3 version of this product. It is equally non-functional. Either it's this manufacturer or the ASIX firmware. To be safe avoid both.

Works very well almost straight away, but...........
I found this to be a very easy to install USB-to-Ethernet adapter. I installed the drivers from the plugable.com website and after initial trials it appeared to work fine.My only slight criticism is that for people unfamiliar with hardware or software upgrades, not enough information was given when downloading the drivers from the plugable.com website (as opposed to making use of the enclosed mini-CD).So why not have a card/sheet inside the box that says something like: "go to the plugable.com home page, then at the top of the screen click on 'DRIVERS', then scroll down the driver page and click on USB2-E1000........etc". Again, for someone not familiar with such upgrades, the sentence "Download and unzip the entire folder to disk, before running the installer ..........." might be complete gobbledygook to them.Smalll improvements re. 'guidance for installation' might reduce the number of e-mails that Plugable has to respond to.

Works perfectly and solved my problem
I have recently bought 'His' and 'Hers' Dell XPS-12 Ultrabooks and the very slim design means that Dell have had to leave out any Ethernet socket. This gave me a problem because my TP Wireless Router and the USB printer sharing software that comes with it requires a temporary wired LAN connection to complete the setup. This item solved my problem. Before it despatched, Plugable emailed me with a URL to their latest driver for this product so I was able to download and install it on both Ultrabooks in readiness. When the adaptor arrived it installed in a matter of seconds and I was able to connect my Ultrabooks to the router and complete the printer sharing setup task successfully. The adaptor is well constructed and looks very smart. The LAN port has the usual green and yellow leds for Link and ACT and appears strong and secure when making a cable connection.Excellent product and well worth the price.

Works on one of my Linux laptops, which is good, but not on my macbook Air, which is not so good - despite the product description saying that it would . Same cable, switch port, etc.

Fantastic!
Plugable USB 2.0 Ethernet Adapter (USB2-E1000) 10/100/1000 MbpsI bought two from Amazon UK because the network cards in my aging laptops died. They were easy to install and both work fine with both my Linux laptops (Debian Testing). It's simply a matter of downloading the drivers and following their instructions. One unit began overheating and dropping the internet connection. This then escalated to not working for a few days, then coming back to life, then not working for a few days and so on.I contacted Plugable support in Seattle by email and had an answer by the next morning. Over the next few days we went through some troubleshooting steps and the service agent (David) finally decided the unit was faulty. David arranged for a replacement unit to be sent by Amazon UK and that arrived three days later. In summary, they are small, easy to install and they work well. After-sales/technical support is exceptional!Would I buy more Plugable products? Absolutely!Would I recommend Plugable products to friends and family? In a heartbeat!

works but
arrived on time and it does work but only on my laptop that has windows 7. Down loaded drivers for other devices that it was bought for, not straight forward, but it wouldn't work on them any way. But it will work on windows 7
