good enough, but not great quality
It works ok. Nice and loud, the middle setting is the perfect sensitivity for my metal door. The big problem is that the item bangs against the door and causes the cheap plastic battery door to fall off and the batteries to fall out, every time someone goes in or out. I'm not talking about someone slamming the door or being rough with the alarm; the normal amount of force required to normally close the door causes the alarm to fall apart. Nothing a little packing tape won't fix, but I shouldn't have to do that.

Not very loud
The item works, but it's not very loud. It has two settings - chime and alarm. But neither setting is loud. I don't think it's loud enough to wake me up from my sleep.

Great warning system.
Recently my family home was burglarized, while my mother was home! They got in by breaking a basement window, 8:30am on a Monday. She heard a sound from the next room and found burglars. They sauntered off with jewelry and other belongings. It scares me that she was in the house with those intruders for at least a couple minutes, without even knowing it! I wanted to create a better warning system if such events should happen again. Along with other methods, such as bars on basement windows and a monitored alarm with glass break sensors, I installed this on the basement door. She didn't hear them break the window, but she will hear this! I know this because a garbage truck set if off one morning and gave her heart a little exercise. I changed the sensitivity to low and the next week's garbage pickup didn't set it off. I tested it; any slight change in the door position set it off while set at low.Update: After about couple months the alarm started making a constant noise. It was a warning that the batteries were dying. While that noise was a bit scary and annoying, I really liked that it alerted us that the batteries needed to be changed.

great for a sleep walker
As a sleep walker i needed something that would wake me should i try to go out while asleep. Yes it is loud enough to do that but it goes off on ots own at times. Also it fell off the door one day and i had to type it back together.

Loud is good
Bought for my daughter who is living on her own for the first time. She uses it on The front door of her cottage. The fact that it is so loud is great because my daughter knows if the door is opened it will wake her. Gave a four rating because I haven't actually used the product but she does feel safer with it there.

Very Sensitive
Touch mode ("L" or "H") is very cool but sometimes trips for no apparent reason. Even swinging slightly on the door knob sometimes sets it off. Vibration only mode ("O") is reliable and still sensitive enough to trip before a break-in. This is the key reason for getting these - to PREVENT a break-in, not report it AFTER they gained entry. Unfortunately, vibration only mode will respond to any vibration cause, not just a break-in attempt. The price is amazingly low for what you get. The batteries will last a long time as long as you don't get false tripping. Disabling it is a pain because the act of touching the tiny switches to turn it off will briefly cause it to trip. Don't know how rugged those switches are or how well they'll hold up over repeated use.

Too sensitive
While these alarms do work, they tend to work too well.Anyone walking in the motels aisle tends to set them off even on the lest sensitive setting.I no longer hang them on the knob. I just lean them against the door. Still will go off sometimes for no reason.
