You can put potatoes in to make hash browns, grate cheese, make carrot slices or use crank to shred carrots for the carrot cake...all with ease. • It doesn't take up as much space in your cabinets. Assembly is straightforward and all the pieces lock into place. Even though the construction is plastic, the body is sturdy and durable. There's a large suction cup on the bottom of the base so you can press it onto any flat smooth, surface like a granite counter top, and then twist the knob on the front to lock it down. Once locked it'll be almost impossible to move without disengaging the lock. To use it, you just have to add your vegetables to the hopper, apply some downward pressure, and turn the handle clockwise. • The hopper opening on top is about 2.5" square so large potatoes and wide veggies have to be cut down sometimes. The slicer makes great thinly sliced chips, less than 1/16th of an inch which are great for frying or dehydrating. The blade in the drum is sharp and slices quickly with just a couple turns; much more uniform and faster than you do by hand. • This mandolin is not only easy to use but easily comes apart for simple and easy cleaning!
