Zenon Lighting CollectionModern LED Bollard Post Light Stainless Steel Pathway Luminare ZLC075 with 4w GU10 CW

Received this yesterday to replace a similar post light from the same company that had the fixed LED installed that couldn't be replaced. Got sick of replacing them every year when the LEDs failed. These have a fitting for the GU10 lamp so can be replaced easily. The wiring is easy to install and the same as the previous design and the base has 3 screw fixings (the previous one only had 2 so it wasn't very sturdy) so you can ensure it is stable and also add plastic packing under to ensure you can get it level (I was installing it on a slope). The only minor complaint I would have (not enough to give it 4 stars) is that once the bulb is installed, the bracket on mine isn't perfectly straight and the lamp sits off to one side slightly and not pointing perfectly up. I did try to move the bracket but the metal wasn't for moving and I didn't want to put too much pressure on it. Once I screwed off the plastic top to access the lamp the rubber seal also came off so I had to screw it back on and then stretch the rubber over the top of the plastic cover and slot it into position. Now that I have done that the rubber seal comes off and stays on the plastic thread where I suspect it is better situated. I would also recommend using Vaseline on the thread of the plastic cover to ensure it is more watertight and spraying them with some WD40 or oil to give them some protection from the elements. Finally, use a frosted GU10 lamp and not a clear one as I did at first. These lamps point up the way so when you stand next to it you stare at the bulb. Looking at a clear glass lamp with lots of bright LEDs is painful so I replaced it with a lower lumens frosted GU10 lamp and that is perfect. in summary, easy to install if you have wiring already in place (as I did), buy a frosted lamp and make sure you play around with the rubber seal so it fits.

OK. Bought these to replace some existing units that had failed due to corrosion in the electrical connectors. These are very nice units but why, oh why, don't manufacturers supply with proper waterproof junction boxes rather than IP44 ones supplied. What happens is that the ground water evaporates up through the stainless steel post and corrodes the connectors as they aren't fully water proof. Having l learnt this lesson I replaced all the IP 44 junction boxes with readily available 'gel' boxes that enclose the cable connectors in a complete waterproof box. End of problem.

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of this product. It should withstand sun and cold and rain for quite a few years. We ordered 7, unseen, and they came within a few days. An excellent replacement for our old bollards which had lasted only a few years. The price is also very reasonable. Fortunately our electrician was available and they were easy for him to install in the garden, and we are very pleased with their appearance at night. Although it comes without a bulb, the bulbs are LED and therefore cheap to run, last a long time, and easy to replace.

The mains connection box could be better an IP65 sealed box would last a lot longer
