Not especially good.
To be honest I found this book a bit underwhelming. It was okay upto a point and perhaps I expected more than this book delivered. As a WordPress book for beginners I found there were too many references to SEO which when you're a beginner to WordPress that's not where you want to be looking at. Neither did I like the organisation of the book and it appeared to be hurriedly assembled somewhat. The text and screesnhots don't really flow that nicely so things just come across disjointed and not terrbly well organised. The content might be helpful but I honestly thought I could have found out what he described mostly myself. The book cost me about £10 and that was a lttle too much or, putting it another way, I didn't really feel I got good value for money. It took about three weeks for the book to arrive and looking at it I sort of got the impression it was printed just-in-time demand only and the look and feel of the book was a bit cheap as if it reflected, in part, the contents within. My personal feeling is that there are probably good books on WordPress but this one, sadly, isn't one of them. Sorry, Andy, you probably meant well when this book was written. Also, I didn't like the almost mandatory condition that you had to register a domain name and hosting when the use of XAMPP would have been better for local machine usage and demonstration purposes. Overall 2-stars from me.

Only took 3 days to arrive from date of order. This visual step-by-step guide to mastering Wordpress is extremely 'user-friendly'. It took me one afternoon to read. Can't wait to start implementing the strategies and tips. It has a nice sized clear and readable font with screenshots on each page to help you navigate your way round Wordpress. Great for absolute beginners like me to gain confidence and proficiency in knowing how to navigate the Wordpress dashboard (which can be a bit of a minefield if you are unfamiliar with WP) and build professional sites. It teaches you everything you could possibly need and want to know to make the initial start and then build on that foundation. I totally recommend this book and will definitely purchase more books from this author.

Better for WordPress.org users
I am using the WordPress.com version of WordPress. This book is supposed to be as helpful for this as for WordPress.org. However, it is really written for WordPress.org users. Whilst I can still use it, many of the screenshots do not look the same as the ones I see with the .com version. It is still useful and I am learning from it. However, this could cause difficulties for people who are less confident with their PC than I am.

Really understandable and well worth buying for starting out on WordPress
Useful book to have at hand for reference - can you recommend one for intermediate and higher levels regarding WordPress please? The book is very informative and uses great wording (easily understandable) along with very accurate images making mastering the basics of WP very fast and easy to remember - I would highly recommend it to those starting out at using WP.10 out of 10! Excellent for falling back for reference too.

Not so easy on Kindle!
I bought it for Kindle, and the pictures, which is the reason I bought the book, are quite difficult to see on small screen. It is annoying to have to enlarge them. This is my fault for buying on Kindle (a device I adore!) and I expect the full-size, hard copy book is fine.

The cover states 'A visual step-by-step guide to mastering Wordpress' but to be honest this book doesn't even scratch the surface.
