No. But I would not recommend this for inside a shower. To make the seal 100% waterproof behind this is nearly impossible. It might work, but it probably won't. And there is no way to know without ripping it back off a while later and see if there has been water sneaking back there. Better to go with the style where the tile sits in front of the stainless lip, not behind like this one.

Q: There are no screws or anything other than the silicone holding the niche in place. Over time, if in shower, would it come off the wall causing leak?

My husband installed ours in the shower about a year ago. He put silicone around the edge of the opening before he inserted the niche. We have not had any problems with leaks, and it has stayed put. That being said ours is not under direct water flow, it is across from the shower head and the water does not spray on it directly.
