Nothing else in the world like it...
After buying the wonderful cookbook on Japanese grilling, The Japanese Grill: From Classic Yakitori to Steak, Seafood, and Vegetables , I began acquiring a lot of these crazy Japanese ingredients I'd never heard of, let alone ever used. And Yuzu Kosho was one of the first. I was instantly hooked. Both red and green varieties deliver a blast of spicy flavor. Intensely salty, sweet, hot and a strong overtone of citrus. The red seems to be a bit more hot. But both are good. The 'burn' or heat doesn't last long, but it's intense for the few seconds it's there. If you're trying yuzu kosho for the first time, go easy. Put just a smidgen on the end of a teaspoon. How much is a 'smidgen'? Know how big a peppercorn is? About that size. Yeah, it packs a punch. But oh, the flavor it adds to authentic Japanese dishes. Everyone should try the grilled yuzu kosho shrimp (recipe in the book mentioned above) just once and you'll be hooked too! Pricey but well worth it.

Insanely over-priced, for a good product.
Barely over 4 tsp. The bottle is really, really tiny. Green Yuzu Koshu costs half as much for twice and much the difference is red chilies over green. This stuff is really Good, but the cost is just astronomical for such an essential ingredient in Japanese grilling.Five for being a good product, but -3 stars for a price that feels like wartime gouging..

Found it for a recipe.
I like it because it is VERY hot and slightly sweet. Wont ever need another bottle because you just use a very small amount. Not for the faint palate.

good mild heat
heat not overwelming and does not linger like some peppers. Going to put it in my pork rib compitition. dl

The real thing
Just like I've had at Japanese noodle bars in NYC and just like I've found in Japanese groceries in NYC. Delicious orangey/lemony red chili taste. Very spicy, very salty. Great on anything even vaguely Japanese.
