OXO Good Grips Good Gravy 4-Cup Fat Separator

This is the first time using a fat separator. It works great! Very simple design and does what its supposed to do. The strainer top makes it even better.

Other brand I had previously cracked the first time I used it so I bought this Oxo & love this so much! I make broth & stock frequently and this speeds up my filtering process for me.

Works great. Easy to use. Tools. It to get the rubber piece at the bottom to work as it was deformed from long storage. Overall very happy with it.

We purchased this item specifically for Thanksgiving dinner to address the gravy issue with the drippings. In fact, we ordered it the day before and Amazon delivered overnight, which saved the day. The OXO can handle up to 4 cups, which is more than adequate in most instances, and has a perforated tray that catches the odd bits and pieces that you don't want in the liquid. The plastic container is food safe, high quality and won't break or crack should you accidentally drop it. Once the liquid is in the container, you wait a few minutes for the liquid to separate, squeeze the handle to release the gravy drippings, and it drains through a small rubber opening in the bottom. Release the squeeze handle when you get to the desired level, and all you are left with is the residual oil/fat in the OXO container to be disposed of. A clean, efficient, no mess approach that is levels better than the syphon tubes, basing tubes or other fat separators at much higher cost. The OXO is also dishwasher safe, but we prefer to hand wash to make sure all of the parts get cleaned thoroughly. It reassembles in three parts and stores upright in your cabinet or drawer. I would highly recommend this product, and couldn't really find anything negative to point out.

As someone who frequently makes homemade broths and stocks, I can confidently say this product is a game changer. I hesitated to buy it because I generally dislike single-use gadgets in the kitchen, but this one is genuinely useful and has a small footprint. It’s not only simple to use but also very easy to clean.The strainer at the top isn’t fine mesh, so if you want to ensure there are no food particles in your final broth, just place a fine strainer on top of the separator, and that will solve the issue.Overall, this is a fantastic product. While it may not be something you use every day, you’ll be glad to have it when you need it.

I couldn’t get the liquid to flow out of the fat separator when I 1st tried it. My husband realized the red orifice at the bottom needed to be squeezed on its sides so it would be open. . When he did that the liquid flowed. It works great now.
