Not a perfect organism...
This book covers all six of the mainline Alien films with interesting information that is presented well, written from an 'in universe' perspective, as if the reader is a Colonial Marine in training. The graphic design is excellent but is let down by issues with the written material - whoever proofread it should be fired. There are also some pretty glaring basic factual errors, such as the year that 'Aliens' is set in. The fact that it gets basic facts wrong is the reason I took a star off - there's really no excuse for that. The augmented reality aspect is fun and interesting, but it is also a bit of a gimmick too. I definitely wouldn't buy this book solely based on that element but it is a nice touch - especially the training missions. The way it is integrated into the book is well done. All this said, this book strikes me as one that could very well end up being a novelty that sits on a shelf gathering dust after a couple of read-throughs.

Not the perfect organism, but I wouldn't nuke it from orbit
Covers all 6 movies and includes some sly 'anecdotal' references to the AVP films and comics. Great graphic design and photography is somewhat let-down by the poor proof-reading: plenty of mistakes, including sections of copy in the wrong place. However, it's a sumptuous and stylish reference guide. The AR elements are good, fun extras, though I wouldn't buy it solely on the grounds of those. But if you're an Alien fan and want to read an entertaining 'in-universe' version of an USMC training guide, I wholeheartedly recommend it.
