Black and Decker 2mm AFS Spool Line for String Trimmers

Buy something else.
Over feeds. Lasted five mins. I'm not exaggerating. Literally five mins and it had gone! That was 6m of the stuff. So I got on line to see if I'd installed it correctly. No I hadnt. So I've ordered a spool of 50m of line for £7. Black and Decker line so OEM. Can I just say if you want to troubleshoot the issues the link on Amazon takes you to Stanley tools. I figured that Stanley tools must have bought B&D out so I started searching the site for the strimmer I have. No B&D strimmers came up. So that was pretty useless. So, as I used the strimmer a handful of times last year and it's still not a year old I figured I'd try to contact Amazon. They're stacked out so weren't available. Unusual but then we're living in unusual times. So don't waste your money on this spool. Consider buying a 50m one to rewind the old spool with line yourself. Pain in the backside? Yep! Am I pleased? Nope. I won't buy another B&D strimmer again. I'll stick with Bosch or Qualcast next time (I've tried Flymo and they're cheap tat that only last as year or two). I bought the B&D thinking it would be a cut above the rest being a good brand name and it wasn't cheap either. I'm disappointed (can you tell) only because what should have been convenient to use isn't. It's important to note that last year I cut the lawn edges about five times and used BOTH strimmer lines to achieve this so I dont think this is a one off. But five mins on a new 6m spool? That's just taking the biscuit!Buy something else guys. It's a poor design on the spool.

Get through it very quickly!
Works well in the relevant Black & Decker strimmers, but you have to avoid a lot of stop-starts as that seems to eat up the line very quickly indeed! At least it feeds through fine; my old strimmer used to jam up the spool line every few feet at times, and so could take a looong time to strim even a small set of walls and edges. This one has not jammed at all so far. On plain grass there is a knack to holding the strimmer just above the grass so as to avoid taking the surface of grass completely off, and I found this very difficult unless the grass area is quite flat. But on edges and against walls it works much better providing you don't keep stopping and starting; its is then quite quick to strim the edges.

All gone in 1 use!
OMG - Single use? This line is no use at all if you are strimming against anything hard EG a fence, a wall, rockery - or if you are edging against paving.I have 20 metres of lawn edging to do - and the entire spool ran out before I had finished!!!!!The most expensive useless junk I've ever purchased. I expected it to last at least one full summer.

Expensive and badly wound.
Both reels were badly wound and kept jamming on the spool. I bought these spools because I thought that the line would be factory wound but I could have done better job of winding them myself. Both spools ran out quickly, jammed frequently and were a waste of money.

Far too expensive
Works well but is short lived if it hits stone or hard surfaces which is difficult if you had sandstone edging. These are far too expensive for what they are and i would recommend shopping around for a bulk buy. I don't know if it is possible to obtain the string and rewind yourself as the spool is solid, designed to slot into the holder and then you just throw it away when the string is gone which is madness and possibly costly.I have not tried the allegedly harder wearing string as the reviews for that and the additional cost were not positive.

Expected better quality from B&D
Being the official B&D replacement I expected better quality line. The actual casing is fine but I found the line kept snagging and wouldn't throw out. On opening the cause was that the line was stuck together (melted together) and this occurred three or four times in the limited life of the spool.Whether the limited life of the spool was quality of line or quality of B&D's auto feeder I'm not yet sure.I'll try heavier duty line next time though because this was no time saver given the untangling I needed to do.Change your supplier B&D - if your increasing your profits here it now shows.

Waste of money!
Very poor quality, keeps breaking without reason, I switched to AM-TECH line and wound it myself, it was massive improvement and it's saving me money.

Very poor value for money.
This product is not fit for purpose. The spool line is used up very quickly. Most gardens have paving, fences some sort of hard contact areas. When the spool line makes contact with any hard edges it breaks easily limiting the usable time. I assume the product is tested prior to sale as customer satisfaction is important. I had much longer use of the spool that was fitted on my old Flymo. I am very disappointed with Black and Decker as I have bought their products over the years. I hope the customer is not been taken for a mug here. I will not be buying any of their equipment or accessories in th e future. Don't waste your money.
