The Burst Balloon: Helping Children Understand Grief and Loss

Excellent!
This is a great book to help children deal with grief and loss. It's a confusing and painful time for children and often adults, though they mean well, simply don't have the vocabulary in the time when comfort or answers are needed. This is a very helpful book to give to, but preferably, read to children who have suffered the loss of a loved one or even a beloved pet.

Charming well illustrated tale about loss
A charming tale to help children adjust to the loss of an elderly relative. The balloon analogy worked especially well. Nice illustrations too. Recommended.

A nice book that make kids feel better about losing someone they love
I read this book with my son. We both loved the pictures and message in the book. My son said… “I loved it”. A strong recommend if your kids are dealing with a loss.

Waste of money!
The media could not be loaded. I wouldn’t either bother with this the book came with a page missing so the story doesn’t make sense! Really disappointing.

A touching story
This book creates a kind of interesting parallelism between a grandpa and a balloon. It plays well with emotion and it might be of help to any child that recently lost his grandad.

perfect gift for little ones struggling with grief
This picture book deals with a complex but common situation, the loss of a grandparent, and handles it well. Sensitively written, with lovely illustrations, it is very relatable. Four stars not five as the actual story is very short for the price, and some of the text is a bit difficult to read over the colored backgrounds.

Great Metaphor
Loved this as a metaphor for loss. Illustrations were also really well done.

Children's short book about losing a loved one
I love the simple text and the lovely pictures full of emotion. In this book, text and drawings express the same, a difficult task for authors, sometimes not easy to note. Also, I liked the positive approach.

Touching
I immediately felt the pangs of loss and the acceptance of letting on. Moving forward but not necessarily moving on. This book made me reflect on the loved ones I have lost but are always wth me. Very special book.

Memories of grandfather
"The Burst Balloon: Helping Children Understand Grief and Loss" is a story written to help children understand the loss of a loved one. The visual appeal of the book was very nice and the illustrations were very well done. The message in the book was presented very well, but I am not sure if very young children would understand the analogy with the balloon. It was touching to read a story in which there was such a beautiful bond between a grandfather and grandson and all the special memories that Jack will have forever. It felt a bit strange to me that no mention was made of heaven, but I liked the book and would certainly recommend it.

Grandpa loved red
This story is about a young boy named Jack who loved his grandpa. He was told by his parents that grandpa was gone away but he didn't know what this meant. His mother bought him a red balloon that reminded Jack of his grandpa's favorite red jumper. While at his grandmother's house, he asked her where grandpa was. She used an illustration of a balloon full of air that popped, letting Jack know that as the air of the balloon was still all around them, so was grandpa. Grandma also asked Jack why did he enjoy being with grandpa. And he mentioned all of the things that they did together. Nice story. I give this book 5-stars.
