A MUST BUY!!!
I'm not a big fan of Dawn French, however when I first saw her playing the role of Geraldine Granger in "The Vicar of Dibley" in 1996 I laughed out loud. I didn't see the first series when it was first broadcast in 1994, I just saw the show from 1996 onwards. I bought the videos of series 1-3 and the '96 easter/christmas specials as a present for Christmas in 2001. I used to own this on VHS as well but seen as this is a compilation (best bits) DVD and not a best of volume (random selected episodes), you just get Dawn French and Paul Mayhew-Archer (the writer) in converstation talking about the show. They discuss Dawn's theroies on the characters, her on-screen boyfriends, and more plus she picks her most favourite moment. This a great DVD featuring some of the most memorable moments from one of Britain's best loved sitcoms. Since there were only 20 episodes ever made between 1994-2006, only some of those moments can found from the first 16 episodes on this disc. You can buy all them in a complete collection on here at a low price, but also go for this as well to complete the set. The show never ages and has lots of hilarious moments and lines from a brillant and funny cast including Roger Lloyd Pack (Only Fools And Horses), Emma Chambers (Notting Hill), James Fleet (Four Weddings & A Funeral, Kevin & Perry Go Large), and Dawn French (Murder Most Horrid). Since Roger Lloyd Pack died a year and a half ago, the show is still fresh and funny after over 20 years, however I think the writers Richard Curtis and Paul Mayhew-Archer should be given a medal for they're sharp and funny scripts that span 12 years and 20 episodes.

Quite interesting... but definitely not a 'must have'
As you will probably already know from other reviews, this is NOT a selection of the best episodes... the title of this release is very misleading. Dawn French is in conversation with John Plowman, the show's producer and they play relevant clips throughout the feature. There are no full episodes on this DVD. Now that that's out of the way, I'll review the DVD for what it is. If you have no intention of buying the series, I would reccomend this DVD as it does show some of the funniest clips of the show throughout the feature. Dawn French's conversation with John Plowman starts very interesting, but the feature is quite long and I must admit I got bored after a while. It also has a feature called 'The Real Vicars of Dibley': A documentary narrated by comedienne Jo Brand which I actually found more interesting than the main feature if I'm honest. I got this incredibly cheap, and if you can do the same then by all means buy it, you might find it interesting. However, there is a feature on the 'A Wholly Holy Happy Ending' DVD called 'The Story of the Vicar of Dibley'... this includes just as many of the best clips but alongside interviews with near enough the entire cast and crew (which is much better). So to conclude, if you don't have the whole series, you may find this interesting, but there are NO full episodes so get it for a low price. If you have the full series, you'll already have better special features included in your sets.
