SonyXperia Z5 Premium 5.5 inch SIM-Free Smartphone - Black (UK Version)

My fifth Xperia phone, forth of the Z series and apparently the last. Great graphics, processor and battery life. I miss the magnetic power and option for QI but the extra RAM, finger print reader and fantastic screen make-up for that.

I've always been loyal to the Sony brand and since owning the Xperia Z1, which eventually slowed down and experienced lost of loud speaker, I moved onto the Z5 which over a year still works, though a little slow at times and experiences app issues.I always have a 128gb storage card in them so that it frees up the phone memory and helps with it's optimal processing.I wanted a second phone for travels and bought the Z5 Premium. Having had the phone for about 3 months the loud speaker suddnly stopped working. Big disappointment for a phone built for entertainment. One month after and the power button stops working, finger scanner and ability to switch on/off ceases. I was able to to use the dedicated camera button to get to the password screen to access the phone's contents...until that stopped working the next day. I now had to use a power cable to connect to the phone everytime I wanted to enter the password to regain access.The phone then freezes after a few days and couldn't restart or power off, even by opening the sim card tray. I had to wait until the battery was completely depleted to recharge the phone, only now I cannot turn it on at all.I've had use of the Xperia Z5 Premium at most for 5 months until it completely died.This all seems too familiar with Sony phones, and their flagship range which makes it so much more disappointing from such a brand. I would like to give them one last chance (with the Xperia XZ Premium) but can't justify spending more money on another Sony phone for it to die after only a few months. Sony must be aware of these problems as I have read so many similar reports from users and yet they continue to produce faulty premium products. Maybe it's time they left the mobile phone market like they did with their laptop department and concentrate on something else. I don't know what else they make that is still good in 2018 going forwards...shame. I want to still love Sony, but it's not me, it's you Sony.

After having this phone for just over a week here are my a first impressions.On first use this handset will have a lot of updates from Sony and Google but it's worth doing.Coming from a Samsung S4 this was a welcome change after being bored with Samsung phones and interface. I can honestly say I have not really missed anything found on a Samsung handset compared to this.I like the clean design of the Z5 Premium which I do not find too big to handle but can understand why some would.Screen is very clear and I find no issue seeing what is in front of me whether indoors or outside. Everything viewed on the phone looks sharp and I was able to see a difference in a video sent from my wife's iPhone SE to a 4K recording I made. Picture quality has been good thus far and I will try to take more samples but include a night time pic of the Thames.Speed of the phone has been impressive and much in line with what you would expect given the specs with the finger print sensor working well with those registered on the device.Playstation 4 Remote play was okay but image pixelated on occasions but will test again.Overall I have been impressed with the handset however....I have like others found the handset becomes warm after using when playing games which require a data connection.Less so with a wireless connection but I will test some more,, because when hot, it is uncomfortable to use for phone calls!Occasionally I have to press the screen a few times when playing certain games so not sure if this is the phone or the games but again will test as the screen is very responsive when navigating generally.I have rated 4/5 stars and will continue to use and hope this does not fall fail to a previous Sony phone which overheated but feel this may suffer the same fate. It is a good handset but does get warm when seemingly using apps that push the resources of the cpu, data and screen.

This is the first phone that I've bought without a contract. I have had Sony phones for the past 8 years and made a mistake of getting a iPhone which a got rid of as soon as I could.The first thing I noticed was the size, it's massive and is exactly what I was after. This is so beneficial as the phone has a 4k screen. It's really noticeable when you watch videos.The best thing about the phone is the unbelievable battery life. I comfortably get two days out of the phone no problem.The sound quality of calls is good and I've had no problems at all the reception. The camera is good too. It has all you expect from a quality premium phone but just seems to o it that little bit better than others.SONY please make sure you bring out a new phone soon. I want to see a Z6 for sale.
