A must read for stock traders
Excellent book - I have read many trading books but took a lot from this. It is straightforward, relatively easy steps to pick a watchlist from patterns and dig deeper through fundamental information that are these days easily available on the internet. O Neill superimposes this for each stock onto the market direction as a whole and picking sector leaders. One criticism - the early chapters are 150 pages of charts - these ae critical to learn the patterns. However the print size is too small to see clearly. I bought the book for making notes and the kindle version too to be able to zoom in on these charts. Annoying but it has more than repaid me !

Starts painful but gets better, lose the charts and self promotion
Would have given 5 if it didnt have 110 pages of pointless graphs in chapter 1I get the idea that charts are part of investing, but its not all about charts.Far too many examples in chapter 1 ,over 100 pages with a large chart per page and over different time scales, trying to highlight the cup pattern.I got the idea after 10..100 is just silly..It does get a lot better and easy to read and non technical.Using my own online tools , scan shares while reading to check his theoryWould have given 5 if he cut 75 pages (charts-25 or less would have been fine)out at the start and removed chapter 16 which is just a user guide on how to use his own companies website for screening (40 pages)Overall 200 pages of padding in a 450 page book. Will take some things from this book and continue reading other books...Share trading books are like the share trading techniques themselves , using them alone wont make you money but combining with other books it willSome good tips in here for other books to read that the author has read himselfPsI ripped bright orange front cover with the massive letters on "how to make from stocks, national best seller " as reading this on the train into the city of london everyday makes it look like one of those sad self help books you can buy...but really thats what it is and it works :)

Old Concept New Spin
The book is well written, and printed nicely. The idea is an age old concept proven to work for many people. But as we all know (those in the game for a while) its just another way to skin the cat and if you like it then you can pursue it. All good looking books are well financed and generally have a second agenda. This book will present a good idea but its a gift for you so that you get enticed and perhaps buy the IBD membership later.

A real classic for every stock trader / investor
I read this book over a decade ago. Read the kindle version too. As I have been more involved with the US stock trade market, I come across many trading difficulties. This book has helped me overcome them. I read it again and again. A great book for every US stock trader.

where to start. I have read several books (last one was One up a wall street). this is foremost the best book I have ever read. It covers lot of details, from stock picking, buying selling. William O Neil has done fantastic work. I cannot comment anything about CAN SLIM methodology, as I might need few years to use it to see the result.ProsCovers wide range of topics, Stocks, Bonds, FD, Question and Answers on various topics, several pages of historical stock references, charts and much moreConsThe only thing, I hate about this book is, the author shamelessly self promoting his website and his company (IBD). He devoted several pages, including an entire chapter. These informations are pointless for a person lives outside America. I hope author acknowledge this in his next edition if there is anyOther than the above, this is brilliant book, highly recommended
