80's Soul Classics - Sweet Soul And Funky Club Tunes, Vol. 5

I have all the previous 4 volumes in this series, and have loved everyone of them. They normally have around 20 great tracks and have a bias for funk and funky groove. However volume 5 is different! All 24 tracks are fantastic with only the Thundder track being hard funk. The other 23 tracks are great soul and funky groove sounds from the early 80's. This means that the tracks that have an electro sound such as Melba Moore haven't been over done, and all the songs will have you dancing around your lounge/kitchen for well over 2 hours. I usually have two or three tracks that stick out on the previous soul classic CDs, but with this one my favourite sounds number in the double figures. On CD 1 you get the more well known soul artists such as the Jones Girls, KC and the Sunshine Band, Tavares, Con Funk Shun, Billy Ocean, Melba Moore and Luther Vandross, all great tracks, but try staying still to Goodie's Do Something....impossible!Very often CD 2 is not as good as CD 1......not in this case. It gets even better! You still get well known artists with great tunes from Gladys Knight, Keni Burke, Billy Griffin, T-connection and the Controllers, but the other 7 are of the same quality such as Master Jams Dancin' All Night. If you are afraid to buy this cd because you don't know some of the artists don't be, as I can definitely recommend this cd and would give it 6 stars if I could. Therefore I would like to congratulate PTG Vinyl Masterpiece records again for this tremendous compilation which I believe is the best so far in 2014, and the best in this series too. I think it is just a shame that some of the soul community haven't embraced this series of CDs yet, as I believe in this day and age we should promote soul music whenever possible. PTG issue these CDs once every 9 months or so, and I for one will welcome vol 6 with open arms. Go buy so we can get more of these top quality compilations.
