Simplifying Sugar Flowers Paperback – 1 April 2005

I have many books on sugar flowers and being fairly new to the craft, I found this book very easy to follow, you have to know a little bit about the basics I think, but if you have this knowledge I think this book is a great asset to any collection, especially at the cheap price, it was well worth the money.I flicked through the book and read the first few bits of each flower and thought I could do that, and putting them into practice was very easy, im working my way through the book, I have found that it uses many of the same cutters for different flowers, ie the crocus 3 petal cutter which I didnt have, but found very cheaply on ebay, so not a problem.A great book at a value price, well worth the money.

I used to make a lot of sugar flowers when I had my own cake business and this was a great starter book. It shows how to make a wide variety of every day flowers along with the tools needed. The steps are very basic to make it easy for moderate beginners. I like to create botanically correct flowers and this book is a good starting point for developing your skills.

After being asked to make a wedding cake for the first time I have taken the bull by the horns and decicided to have a go at making the flowers, having just recieved this book and looking through, the instructions seem clear and precise, Hopefully it is as easy as the author makes it seem, will have to adapt as I have different cutters to whats recommened, if not I will have to invest in some different cutters but will first see how I get on as I am an absoulute beginner

I'm fairly new to sugarcraft and am at the stage where I'm just about confident enough to decorate cakes for other peoples special occasions. The flowers in this book are lovely without being too complicated. Each project is beautifully photographed and clearly explained. There are also hints on colouring and display. As long as you have the basic shaping tools you should be able to produce lovely flowers. I'm self taught and if I can do it......My book was delivered very promptly and arrived in excellent condition.

I bought this book along with Sugar Flowers by Lisa Slatter; both books have exceeded my expectations and have inspired me to practice sugar craft and I have been delighted with the results. You do need to invest time of course and money (to purchase cutters, and tools etc) but it is a very rewarding hobby and I hope to become reasonably professional in due course!

Good reference book

I bought this book to help me get ideas to decorate my own wedding cake next year. I havent actually used the book yet, I have been looking through and deciding what to do so I know what tools I need to buy. I am looking forward to creating something in the autumn when the evening are longer and I have more time to sit and play.
