The only mosquito bite remedy that works for me is ammonia. This is definitely better than the liquid version that runs all over the place, but they are both amazing. This works so well that most of the time the bite will almost immediately go away if I apply it quickly enough. I like to have several tubes on hand (one in the kitchen, car, purse, diaper bag, etc.) so I can apply it as soon as a mosquito strikes.Warning: do not use over broken skin because it will sting! This may not be the best medicine for people who tend to scratch bites, but it is the only thing that works for me.A NOTE ABOUT ESSENTIAL LAVENDER OIL FOR BITES: My 4-year-old tends to vigorously scratch bites before we are aware of them, so we have to use the kids formulas on her. They temporarily take away the itch, but they do nothing to counteract the venom, unlike the ammonia formulas. My mother in law is into essential oils and we have found that pure lavender oil applied soon after the bite mark appears works very well on our 4-year-old and sometimes makes the bite disappear just as well as the ammonia for us. I've tried lavender oil on myself, but it doesn't work as well as the ammonia for me.

This is handy to have on hand. It works better than other similar products I have tried, but does not work so well for me as to justify a "5" rating. I was expecting almost instant relief, but it does seem to take a minute or two to reach its full effectiveness.

I bough this to replace the tube I gave to someone who needed a bug bite cream. I have used it on myself with great results and a friend of mine got bit all over her forehead and face from little bugs and this stopped the itching and made the bites heal quickly. It took the inflammation down right away. It is a little bit drying but I don't care when it comes to helping me feel better from being bitten! A great product at a great price. I am buying another one for my first aid kit.

Not the original formula- I used to love this product! With four kids it was a staple in our home. Sure, it stung for a split second when applied, but, then immediate relief! This version is completely useless and a waste of money. NO RELIEF AT ALL! Do not waste your money- make your own ammonia remedy at home. The original version worked well and was convenient for travel. Please bring back the original version.

I like the roll on better. It is more effective and not as messy. This has a tendency to plop out when you take the top off.

Best remedy for insect bites. The ammonia in it relieves the sting instantly. I get stung a lot in the garden. I have to reapply depending on the sting but wow what a saving grace. Ingredients that can be found in a kitchen but in the convenience of a tube ready to go. The gel makes it easy to apply directly to bite/sting. I couldn't find it locally and glad to stock up here.

The ammonia smell is not pleasant, but this is extremely effective in eliminating pain and itching from ant or wasp stings. Our young niece was stung by a wasp and was greatly surprised at how effective the lotion was.

I found the old formula of this in a grocery store a few years ago. It smelled so strongly of ammonia it would make my eyes water but IT WORKED. Sadly, this is no better than Benadryl and is more expensive. I won't be repurchasing.
