Q: Bought this as a replacement for my mums previous one however we’ve found that 20mm in her old measure equates to just over 40mm in this one! Ideas?

I can only say that from my experience any rain gauge of this type can't give accurate levels and depends on which way the wall/fence faces when showers are directed by wind. The only real indicators are those which are ground mounted and are not surrounded by buildings. I take the readings as an approximate indicator.
