A fine well made unit
I am so pleased I chose this replacement for my old Belkin unit that went bang after many years of good service. It is well made and easy to operate and configure. The USB interface is simple and it controls my Synology DS 1513+ which in turn is configured to send notifications to Windows 10 machines to shut them down gracefully via a utility called Winnut.. Testing the unit by simulating a mains failure revealed that it has a good capacity to keep going without making much noise . My system ran for 90 minutes shutting down a single PC and monitor after 10minutes and the synology box at the end of the 90 minute span. It runs quietly too when on standby. Overall I feel it is a good quality unit and although it costs more than other units claiming similar specs. I feel comfortable that I can expect a few good years service from this robust looking unit.

You get what you pay for.
I did own a Trust UPS, which after many year's service would not power my computers in the event of a power fail.Looking at the poor reviews Trend get and the good reviews APC get, I decided on an APC replacement.I paid the extra as somewhere in the documentation it said the output on the Smart series was a pure sine wave which I understand is needed for some computer power supplies. It worked a treat and I am well pleased with the UPS.So far I haven't tested running on power fail. The 1500VA model is a total overkill for my two PC's and an inkjet printer, as they only draw 300VA in total.

No windows 7 alert message using the business version of Powerchute
The business version of the Powerchute software does not alert me when using Windows 7 Home. I have to rely on the alarm from the UPS.My (Powerchute Business Edition Software) does not inform me the ups (SMC1500I) has switch over to the battery. My old BR1500GI - APC Pro 1500 came with Powerchute Personal Edition Software. This software informed me that the UPS had switched over to the battery. A popup message appears on windows 7.

Great high capacity UPS device for home/small business.
A lot of money but you get a lot of kit for the price. Will run my overclocked i7 PC (with 4 HD's and 1 SSD) plus 2 x 24 inch monitors also my router and NAS device for over an hour on the battery (tested this and I will get the quoted 67 minutes it calculates,Looks good, it quiet and does the job perfectly. Have a few issues with the local power and this has been perfect - as I have come to expect from APC.

Perfect!
Bought to replace an ageing 1500 unit (7 years old). Having the front display is a very nice feature - enabling you to monitor battery level and load used without having to install the software console or connect to it remotely - especially useful as I am using this to power a CCTV system. As always the APC unit is high quality and it looks nice rack mounted with the included rails and ears.
