and the saddle became by far the most comfortable saddle i've ever sat on
Note, I have been using this saddle now for 130km - it's starting to break-in, but there's still some mileage to go.It is noticeably harder than other saddles (I used to use a Sella Italia Max Flite, after a bike shop measurement of sit bones) but I came away with no soreness. I rode it again the next day, again without problems. I then took it on a 35km ride, and had noticeable soreness in very unfortunate areas. Whilst the recommendations of many owners is to keep the saddle flat, I adjusted it so it is very slightly pointing downwards, and the saddle became by far the most comfortable saddle i've ever sat on, and have since been on multiple 35km+ rides with no soreness, either during or after the ride. This is a huge welcome change to other saddles, most of which I paid a premium for. This was a last ditch attempt to remain cycling in what felt like a situation where no saddles were suitable, and the Brooks has absolutely exceeded expectations. I would pay double for this saddle. The company clearly cares about their product and heritage, and it shows. My only gripe is that I am hesitant to park the bike in even the most public of places, as the saddle seems to stick out amongst others, pretty much asking for a thief with an Allen key to walk off with it. With that said, since buying it, I have noticed brooks saddles on a lot of bikes around town, so perhaps that isn't much of a problem.

Hard but comfortable
First of all, kudos to Amazon for excellent service. Originally I ordered my saddle a month ago with normal delivery; that copy is probably sailing beyond the orbit of Jupiter by now. Amazon not just sent a replacement, they did so by expedited delivery with no extra cost, *and* gave me a cash rebate. I got the new saddle in three days. It is professionally packed, and Brooks provides a tiny sample of Proofide as well in the box.Brooks saddles are meant to be broken in by riding them for 500-1000 kilometers, so this is only a first impression. (There is a long thread about the Imperial on bikeforum, where many members share their experiences.) My inaugural ride took a little over an hour. The saddle (after the recommended light treatment with Proofide) is still rock hard, and my crucial parts are quite bony, nevertheless I enjoyed every minute. Finally a saddle, where my sore parts are near the sit bone area (and not elsewhere). The recommended way is to tilt the nose slightly upward, and Iconfirm this: no numbness thanks to the cutout, but keeps me sitting on it properly. The saddle already shows some signs of deformation at the back (even though I was wearing padded bike pants), so I hope this is a beginning of a long and happy marriage.

High Hopes
To reiterate pretty much every other review, this is a fabulous looking saddle. It was hard from day one but after a few days touring in Scotland is starting to give, though still uncomfortable at the end of a full day. After a couple of hundred miles I've tightened the laces which has stiffened it again but I've a feeling it will ultimately be great. Just debating sticking it on the turbo over the winter to really give it some stick. On the whole v. happy and time will hopefully move it to 5 star saddle

Comfortable
Really, what else is there to know? I can get through a days riding without being chronically sore and get on the bike the following day without wincing.I've ridden about 500km on mine so far and it started more comfortable than either of my gel saddles and has got more so as time has passed. You will not need 'incontinence pants'. It is money well spent.

Great - strait out of the box
After years of having a sore bum and numb man bits - decided to go for a legendary Brooks saddle. It looks great, it feels great and was comfy right out of the box, after a couple of 35 mile rides it has got even more comfy. No more numb bits and no sore bum (and this without padded shorts!). I am a total convert and can not fault this excellent product that will give me years of service.

Not what I ordered
I ordered the item shown above, (Men's Tan ) but what arrived was a Lady's saddle, marked a such, albeit in the correct colour. In fairness , the dimensions differ only slightly, but I am a big bloke, and a Man's saddle would have been better for me.I see from the Amazon reviews/feedback that mine is not the first observation of this happening to a purchaser from this seller, and it is not acceptable.

Hype is warranted
I've had problems with other saddles and decided to buy two Brooks saddles, this one and also the rubberized C17. I tried C17 first for 2 rides and it was better than what I had previously. But once I put on the B17, that was it. I was skeptical because I don't see why exactly is this supposed to be more comfortable, It's hard, completely new and some say that it takes to get really comfortable. But for me it worked since day 1. For anyone having saddle problems I'd also advice to look if they don't need wider saddles. Some brands simply don't offer saddles wide enough for the location of the seat bones.

A very regal saddle
In rebuilding a British fixed-gear bicycle, the Brooks B17 Imperial was a no-brainer. This saddle looks very regal—Something, the royal family, would use. The packaging was exceptional, with spare tools and sample leather polish. For my entire cycling career, I’ve ridden on saddles that emphasized weight and speed over comfort, so I don’t care much for the pre-break-in feel. However, I do see that this seems to be something Brooks customers care much about. Out of the box, the saddle is stiff but still very comfortable.Overall, considering the materials, quality, and 10-year warranty, the price isn’t so bad. To put things into perspective, the highest-quality “Chinese equivalent” with the Brooks moniker costs about $100.

Yes, it’s the short one!
If you’re looking for the B17S carved saddle in honey, you’ve found it!It says it’s a “women’s” saddle, but really it just means it’s shorter than the B17 carved.I have the non-carved B17S on my other commuter bike, and my butt was comfortable for over 3,000 commuter miles (around 5 miles or 30-40 mins a day) after I broke it in.I got the carved version because I’m going to be spending about 6x that in the saddle once I get my new (electric) commuter bike ready to go, and I already trust the brand, but needed something with a soft-tissue relief cutout.Saddles are a highly personal preference, and I’ve never met a more padded saddle that I could live with, so I’m excited to break this new girl in & get comfy!!!Seller’s description definitely needs to be updated, but it was exactly what I was looking for, which is why I ordered after reading the reviews and getting a question answered to make sure it was accurately inaccurate 🤣.

Einfach toll - eben Brooks
