Caged AKA Captifs

I love French films. They are the masters of tension and depraved themes artfully brought to life onscreen. However, the story line revolves around a subject that, for me, struggles to maintain effective tension. The conflict is neutral, its not personal, or even idiosyncratic. Its commerce, conducted matter of factly, and the captors usually have a huge advantage over the captives. There are only 2 possibilities open at any time: escape or die. The escape scenes are predictable usually, and don't carry surprise or suspense. The ending is typically predictable as well. So, for that, the subject matter is inherently limited in its ability to get me into the 'zone' that I much love in horror, and even the French films that usually very capably get me into it. The technical aspects of this one were solid, except the sound effect of the barking dogs was waaayyyyy overdone and really grated very quickly. The inherent conflict between the main protagonist and dogs was telegraphed early on too. It was overkill. Acting was fine, very good in fact. The production values were solid. I would definitely watch a future endeavor of these filmmakers even though this one fell a little flat for me.

There's nothing really new here. It's an abduction movie where 3 adults take a wrong turn, get lost, and encounter a gang who capture them. They are held in cells in a basement. One attempts an escape, which goes wrong for him. When a phone rings, one of the abductors answers and gets instructions about something. Then they select one of the captives and drags them to an unseen room away from the other captives. The captive never returns. Alive, that is. As they await their fate, one of them manages to escape and discover what's going on. The captive discovers a way out for all of them and manages to free the remaining two captives. They make their way to the woods before the escape is discovered by the gang. Mayhem insues. Do they escape? Maybe, maybe not. I don't think I'd pay to find out, but if you can get it for free, it's worth a watch.

It may have been a little exaggerated, but organ harvesting is real. Not only European countries but also Asian countries, and even south of the border. Just be aware of your surroundings.

Excellent film - extremely scary and suspenseful. Three doctors on a humanitarian assignment - similar to Doctors Without Borders - are brutally kidnapped and thrown into captivity, warehoused in cages, tormented by their captors, and kept in line by violent guard dogs. Initially, one of the three speculates they might have been kidnapped by either the Mafia or some sort of paramilitary group - but it's far worse than that. These predators are Serbian thugs who specialize in murdering their victims for their body parts, which are then sold on the black market. Outstanding acting and directing. Very well-written, with terrifying twists and turns. Definitely worth watching.

Well acted and filmed sub-titled film. Captifs keeps you on the edge of your seat and having the sub-titles does not take away from this at all. Suspenseful and horrific all at once, well worth the money in my opinion.

I'm a huge horror movie buff and especially love Foreign horror films.This is now on my top 5. You will be on the edge of your seat the whole time!!YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED.Fantastic acting,Great cinematographyIntense and Very Creative Plot and, most of all,It far by surpassed my expectations,in the terms of production.Great movie, and a MUST SEE for foreign horror movie lovers....if you aren't foreign that is! Lol

It was a fairly well done movie, not the best I have seen, but I was far from disappointed with the movie.

Rubbish don’t waste your money

Nice little french thriller (more a thriller than a torture porn), well done, enjoyable. and thanksfully not the usual degenerated Hillbillies or Mutants, just ruthless criminals in former Yugoslavia.

great priced film with a good/brutal storyline to it deep,and sinisterwould recommend to any horror fan really without question indeed.
