The MOST inspiring book
If you've ever beach to a British beach in winter on a day of good waves and wondered who on earth those rubber-clad nutters are in the water, and what on earth motivates them to do it, this book tells you why. Great stories, fascinating people, inspiring dedication to surfing. And proof that trying to stand on a board in freezing water isn't a hobby, it's a faith. Just bought my first winter wetsuit, need I say more...

Great title, great read
I don't often read surf mags, let alone surf books, so don't know why I bought this - perhaps it was the catchy title, but I'm very glad I did. This is both entertaining, and in parts gripping and inspiring (and nice to know first hand a few of the spots he refers to). As a writer myself I couldn't begin to describe the feelings and emotions of being in the water - Tom Anderson deserves a lot of credit for his writing style as he manages to do this with natural ease and self deprecating humour.A cracking read.

A fun tale for English surfers
For those that endure the cold-weather travels of England there are spots and stories you can relate to. A good companion for the back of the car as you wait for the swell to arrive while the rain pours down.

Encapsulating
I am half way through the book so far, as an enthusiastic weekend warrior this is giving me even more motivation to go on weekend road trips to new places within the UK and feel proud to be a UK Surfer. This book is a great read and I would recommend it to anyone who surfs in the UK, the stories leave you chuckling to yourself and are stories that most UK surfers will be able to relate to.

Lively read. Lots of earthy wisdom, albeit that the stage for the characters is in water (the sea). Come to think of it, the characters spend quite a bit of time getting to and from the sea... So plenty of opportunity for earthy wisdom and observations. Whether in earth or water, the author has an observant eye when it comes to human behaviour.
