KOH-I-NOOR Mechanical Pencils (Set of 6), Green/Red/Yellow

I first saw these pencils during an internet search and the picture was simply sublime (the person has staged it in a very crisp and clear way). I posted the picture on my Facebook profile, with the cheeky title #salivating. Well, a few hours later and I couldn't cope with the urge to buy them. Finger pressed buy, heart raced, excitement for delivery kicked in!Yes, they are expensive, but what you're buying into here is a luxury set of clutch pencils that should last you a very long time. Smooth lead holders made of a lovely weighty metal. Incorporated sharpener in every one. Leads that match the barrel colours. Rubber included in the nice metal tin (which had a piece of foam in it for protection on arrival, as well as coming in an outer cardboard box).The only downside to these pencils is they don't come with the clips - handy for compactness, but a shame if you want to take them out of the tin and use them individually. Still, this is a minor point - I just have a fetish about the clips, y'know, in case you wanna attach them to your pocket or onto a sketch book. Nothing wrong with having the pencils without!The leads are pretty vibrant and not half bad. I wouldn't say they compare with artist quality colour pencils, but they are certainly miles above cheaper versions (I had a set from a high street shop in unbranded plastic casing and the leads were dreadful!) See picture for some swatches. The leads are a bit waxy but the colour lays down nicely and vibrantly. I think if you're after artist quality leads in a clutch pencil then you might need to look at getting a 3.8 mm lead holder with Koh-I-Noor polycolour leads (haven't tried them yet but they are supposed to be comparable to some of the good colour pencil brands).If you're not familiar with clutch lead holders, they work differently to other mechanical pencils. The button at the top doesn't release lead a bit at a time - it releases the hold and the lead shoots out. So be careful - my husband tried it, then put the lead back, but as I reached out to take the pencil back (thinking he'd finished) he released it again. My hand collided with the lead and SNAP! It was OK though, the two pieces fitted back inside no problem. So you need to hold your hand out to catch the lead, and gently push it back in (whilst still holding the button down) and then when it's in a satisfactory position you let go of the button and the mechanism "clutches" the lead again.I don't regret spending a lot on this set and I love it - an essential addition to any stationery or art supply addict's stash (he says, any excuse!!!) I don't even usually use colored pencils in design I usually just sketch an idea and then paint but I couldn't resist getting these for the fact the lead matches the clutch pen and it's just a really charming set. So pleased I got them they are really great to use. And applying no pressure gives you color, feel like really good quality pigments. Best colored pencils I've ever used, admittedly it's not my reg-media, I'm really impressed by them and would recommend KOH-I-NOOR's graphite clutch set also excellent value for money. 5* all round such a nice set and would make a really excellent gift for someone who likes to draw.

This is a neat little set of clutch pencils with black, brown, yellow, green, blue and red 2mm leads. Handily stored in a retro-style tin which is then inside a cardboard box, so it travelled well with no damage. It would probably be good for office use but I use them for simple sketching. The leads are quite waxy but don't seem to smudge. It is possible to sharpen the leads to a reasonable point using the little push button sharpener that is incorporated, I prefer to use a knife for sharpening rather than a rotating drum sharpener because the leads are quite soft and waxy. The pencils appear to be a well made metal construction but perhaps not quite so robust as a standard clutch pencil.

Delivery was excellent, arrived before eta. Pencil set is lovely to look at, colours are great, secure in a metal tin. Sadly, the brown lead was missing from my set.

I was hoping someone would post pictures on these reviews. My box came with a nice cushion that prevents the rattling some other people have mentioned before. I made a sample of the writing and the eraser, I just did a few rubs back and forth. I also took a picture of the sharpener, which you unscrew from the back. It is very nice to write with and I am super happy with them 😊 definitely recommend

Superb quality clutch pencil set. I know these are sold as a coloured set, but they can just as easily hold graphite leads instead, especially as their colour makes them instantly identifiable.Anyway, a great set at a good price plus they’re in a tin!

Great mechanical clasp pencils for everyday use

These just arrived and I already have tested them out and love them. They are heavy but not too heavy. They have nice classy colors. The balance is about centered and not front heavy or back heavy. The leads color well. The colors are rich. The orange pencil really colors yellow. It seemed a little scratchy at first but the others felt more like oil pencils. I am not sure if they are oil pencils but the feel in the hand is comparable. The colors aren't streaky but smooth like paint.They came in an outer cardboard box and a tin. The tin has an easer and a little foam cushion to protect the pencils. The leads are already in the pencils. The clutch mechanisms work smoothly.I wanted these to carry some basic colors in a car bag so they won't melt in the summer. I had heard of others having warped and melted pencils. I prefer metal but will take plastic if they colors are pretty.These pencils look like a nice gift set for others who love pencils also.I am extremely happy with this product.

Ich kenne diese Stifte noch von vor 35 Jahren aus meiner Schulzeit. Die sind immer noch die gleichen was Aussehen und Qualität angehen. Sie liegen angenehm in der Hand und halten sich echt gut beim schreiben. Die Minen sind sehr langlebig und mit den Stiften hat man Bleistifte oder Buntstifte, je nachdem welche Minen man verwendet zur Hand die ein Leben lang halten. Hinten unter dem Drücker befindet sich der Spitzer unter der Kappe so das man den immer zur Hand hat, aber den braucht man ausschließlich für das anspitzen, die Mine bricht man nicht einfach ab wie bei normalen Bleistiften, hier hat man echte gute Qualitätsprodukt wie es so unverändert seit Jahrzehnten ein Erfolg ist.

Excelente produto.

Sono appassionato di matite, portamine comprese. Quando si disegnava a mano, con il tecnigrafo, usavo rigorosamente le caran d'ache da 2 mm, che ho ancora, e probabilmente non ci sono paragoni. Ma queste koh-i-noor meritano 5 stelle. Certo, cigolano un pochino, il meccanismo non è dei più fluidi, ma sono in metallo verniciato, inserite in un cofanetto di lamiera e alla fine per 4 euro l'una, per me, sono simpatiche e ne vale la pena.
