DEWALT Charger for 7.2V-18V Battery, 1-Hour Fast Charging (DC9310)

I ordered the DeWalt DC9310 drill battery charger from Amazon.com. It was delivered quickly (within a few days), but as others have experiencing, the packaging is a bit to be desired (it's from a third-party seller). The charger was unsealed, wrapped in paper, with no instructions. It does look brand-new though. Off to a rocky start...but it gets much better!I Googled the make & model number and easily found and printed off the instructions - not a big deal. After reading through them, I tried the charger out.I have a Black & Decker cordless drill that runs on a 9.6V PS120 power pack (not exactly a "major league" drill but it gets the job done for me!). Many reviewers said that the DeWalt charger works just find with B&D batteries, and I can confirm that! The fit of the battery into the charger is a bit tight, so it's a bit difficult getting the battery in and out of the charger - but it does work rather nicely.I went from a completely dead battery to a full-charged battery in just under 30 minutes! There's a tune-up function on the charger if you leave it plugged in (for 8 hours) which I might try sometime, but for now I tried out my fully-charged battery and it works great with the drill! The cheap charger that came with the B&D drill used to take 16 HOURS and you had to be "on the ball" to unplug it for fear of overcharging. Not with this DeWalt - it charges up quickly and won't overcharge, and will tune up the battery as well (I can attest only to the quick charge so far but I must say I am very impressed!).Kudos to DeWalt and to Amazon for making this one facet of life all that much easier! Despite the questionable packaging and tight fit I'm so pleased with the overall functionality of this charger that I'm giving this review all 5 stars! I'm a very satisfied customer.

Have older Black & Decker 18v Firestorm cordless drill with "post" battery pack. The original charger is simple design, with no automatic control, forcing close supervision during charging. I left battery pack in charger over night, and charger stopped working. Black & Decker does not offer replacement charger for 18v battery packs, and ebay wanted $20 for same type of charger, with no guarantee if battery pack was damaged. I did some research and found positive review of DeWalt charger with confirmation that it worked with B&D 18v battery packs. After checking B&D website, I noticed that DeWalt was affiliated. My theory? B&D 18v Firestorm cordless drill with post battery was really manufactured by DeWalt, but sales numbers were small. Just a thought, because my B&D 18v post batteries fit perfectly into the DeWalt charger and were charged up without problems in 1 hour. "Charging" and "Charging Complete" indicator light works well. I left the battery packs in the charger overnight for "conditioning" - not sure how well this works, but charger is still working fine, and battery packs were fully charged. Unit is well made, and for $5 - $10 more than ebay price for rebuilt original, I consider it a great deal!

I bought my first DeWalt 18 volt tool about 15 years ago. It came with a black top charger. That charger would bake the batteries, leaving them uncomfortably hot to touch at the end of the charge. Result was a battery lasted about 2 years of semi-casual use. It destroyed the batteries for my power screwdriver in under 6 months.I bought a set of NiMH batteries reviewed elsewhere. That required buying a yellow top charger. What a world of difference! The charge is at least as fast and the batteries are barely warm at the end of a charge. After laying on the shelf for several years for lack of batteries, I bought a pair of NiMH batteries for the power screwdriver. Again, these batteries seem to be being charged correctly.One last thing. This charger works fine with a pseudo-sine 12 volt inverter. The black top one was hit or miss.Quite satisfied so far.

Most hour chargers take longer than advertised to do their job. I have an 18 Volt battery, and it's not the newest. However, this charger does the job within the time-frame I need the most ... ONE HOUR! Granted, if you know anything about batteries, then you know this degrades the battery quicker than a trickle charger. But I don't use it every day, and when I need to use it, I need it NOW! One hour is not too bad, so I give this five stars because it's not based on an average. You can see that it will charge smaller batteries from 7.2V all the way through 18V. Other companies will take an average time to charge for each battery, and advertise it that way. But this, with the highest capacity battery, it's good to go in one hour. Not sure if it's the same with the smaller batteries, but I can attest to one hour charges with the 18V battery that I own. Plus, it's very tough ... I beat up my charger by mistake some times, but nothing has come loose or broken.

It arrived on time and charged up fine. It held the charge as I did some wood cuts so no complaints at all!

Works great for my older drill, delivery fast and well packaged. Glad I found so I could continue to charge older batteries . Had not been able to find in stores on its own.
