Hiro is losing his edge.
This is one of the newer model Tane-and-Play toys, identifiable by the round magnets. The older models (with the square magnets) tend to be bigger and have more detailed die-cast components. This is certainly true for Hiro - disappointingly, in this version of Hiro all of the "detail" is painted on, and will quickly succumb to the knocks and scratches of day-to-day play. It's a nice engine and what take and play set would be complete without a Hiro, but it's a shame to see the quality of the toys declining so noticeably, when the price remains the same. It's worth looking on e-Bay for some of the older models - you can pick them up cheaper and they're better made as well.

Take-n-Play Percy Engine
Made from Die-Cast Metal this little Percy Engine is the perfect addition to any of the Take-n-Play Thomas & Friends range and my son is playing with it with his Thomas & Friends Take-n-Play Roaring Dino Run Play Set along with his other Die-Cast engines, although Percy can obviously be played with without a set or any of the other Take-n-Play sets. I bought Percy this week as part of one of Amazon's Daily Deals and so got him at a slightly cheaper price than normal as if you want to get all of the engines for your little one the cost can really rack up especially for the quality of the Die-Cast engines.Percy has magnets on his front and back to allow him to be connected to other trains and carriages and he is the perfect size for little hands. Percy comes in a clear plastic package with cardboard backing he is in the usual Percy colours with a smiley face and my son loves him. He is suitable for 3 years and older although my baby daughter plays with all of my son's toys and she is much younger than the recommended age. Another brilliant little Die-Cast Engine for my son's Thomas collection.

Lovely new Take-n-Play engine
Ryan is a new character introduced in the Thomas film Sodor's Island of the Lost Treasure. This was purchased for my five year old son who loves adding the new trains from each film to his collection. Ryan is a hard working purple goods engine who features in the new Thomas film Sodor's Island of the Lost Treasure.Beautifully painted in purple, with his name and the GNR livery painted on his bunker in gold, Ryan is a lovely take-n-play engine of the same usual high quality we have come to expect from this range. He has the usual magnets which allow him to connect to other engines and carriages and he can be used on the Take-n-play track sets.A great addition to any Thomas fan's take-n-play collection and a must-have stocking filler for 2015 for fans of the new film.

One happy toddler
First it was Disney Cars and now its all about Thomas the Tank Engine. Our Toddler's interests change like the wind.So now he is firmly in the Thomas camp we've invested in quite a few of these Thomas accessories. The first thing to mention is that there are lots of different types of Thomas toys. This is Thomas Take & Play and its not compatible with either the wooden Thomas, or Track Master. Take and play trains are generally quite small and have magnets so the trains and 'terrible trucks' can all link up.Any serious Thomas fan knows that Tidmouth sheds is an important part to any Thomas play set. Our toddler loves that all of his engines can 'go to sleep' at night in their little house. On a practical level it folds up nicely, hence the 'take and play' so can be used as a good storage solution or for taking trains on the move. There is nothing to set up. You just open the box and fold open the set. It comes with a Thomas train which is a nice addition, even if that means we now have several Thomas trains - though you can never have enough!Another great feature is that the tracks link up to other take and play toy sets meaning that you can set up a large network for your toddler to take his trains around.A big thumbs up from junior, which means a big thumbs up from me.

Brand new rail boat character
Purchased for my Thomas-mad five year old who loves to add the engines and vehicles from each DVD to his collection. Skiff stars in the new Thomas film, Sodor's Island of the Lost Treasure. He's a rail boat who has been converted to search on both land and sea but doesn't like getting his face wet! He's owned by the 'bad guy' in the film but Skiff redeems himself and is rewarded by the end of the film. The Take-n-Play Skiff is different to any other engine we've had before. His railboat qualities give him a combination of boat and engine and he swivels on his wheeled base. He's painted beautifully, as we now expect from Take-n-Play and his bright blue and yellow colour scheme. It's worth pointing out that he doesn't have the usual magnets to allow you to connect him to other engines and carriages but he's an accurate, and attractive, version of the new film character.

... daughter is a huge Thomas fan and was absolutely delighted when this arrived
My daughter is a huge Thomas fan and was absolutely delighted when this arrived. The set folds down into a fairly compact size and can easily be carried by the handle - ideal as we have taken this with us on various visits. My daughter especially likes that each of the shed doors open- this means she can do everything from put the trains to bed to making them play hide and seek. The back of the shed opens and has pull down track. The turn table rotates lining up with each of the 5 sheds in turn. The set comes with one train- Thomas but can be used with other Take N play trains- we already have quite a few! The track included is fairly small but can be expanded with other track from the Take N play range. My daughter really loves this set- and has had hours of fun. I have to say I have had a lot of fun playing with her. I especially like that this set is very versatile and practical making it an ideal toy to take out with you.
