Read the the trigger warning
Well that was dark, depraved and yeah delicious. When I saw the cover the dead bird and the pretty pink background I knew I needed to give it a try and oh boy I'm so glad I did. From the start I was sucked into the story and the characters both of which have me strong mixed feelings. I definitely recommend this book to extreme horror fans.

A unique voice
May Leitz proves to be a fresh, unique voice in the horror genre. Her twisted love story is both engrossing and poetic. Although the violence may prove too extreme for some readers, if you’re a fan of Poppy Z. Brite or Richard Laymon, you should enjoy it.

Jesus Christ
If you want to know my feelings on this book, read the title of this review. Then, say it out loud. Then say it faster. Then louder. Then scream it. Finally, strip naked and sit on the floor during a cold shower, and say those two words over, and over, and over again. You'll feel about one tenth what I feel. Two more things before I go. First, at a certain point, I realized I needed to be quite high in order to get through this one. Second, this book is brilliantly written. I was generally shocked by the quality. I was expecting to leave a review where I would try to say, "Some really interesting ideas, amateurishly written but there's potential," without actually saying that out loud. I was way off on that. This story is tightly written. Very well done. Not a page wasted. No info dumps; information arrives precisely when it needs to and flows with the narrative. No sudden paragraph that explains what every day of elementary school was like. You don't even know favorite foods, or crap like that. You get what you need, and the characters feel alive enough in their own right to where you get them. Like they're real people you can make assumptions about. You don't need your hand held, don't need anything explained to you.The quality of the writing greatly raises the impact of its shock value. This isn't some meme, or joke. It has a sense of humor, but it also has a conscience. This book is alive; it doesn't feel clinical or dry at all. There is real emotion, and that adds to the tension. And it never gets too intense; it manages to get under your skin but not rip it off you. It's actually more insidious that way; it gets at you, but not enough to make you run. I couldn't put it down. I couldn't escape until it was over. The author should be damn proud of this. Well freaking done. Definitely gonna follow her, and see what she makes next.

Disgusting
I really loved this book! The characters were pathetic in the best possible way and the atmosphere was just so bleak and unhealthy, it was great! I just wish that the gore was a bit more detailed at times

Messed up queers will love this messed up queer book!
I adore May Leitz and consuming media that she reccomends so I knew exactly what I was getting into with this book and I loved it. It's icky and gross and so damn relatable it hurts. All my queer post-covid relationship anxieties are here, along with piles of nauseating gore and well... lots of fluids. Had to read the whole book in one sitting because it completely absorbed me and I will definitely be coming back to it again and again!

Written well but...
Very well written, the story was gripping at the beginning but towards the middle and the ending it was just confusing on what was happening. I probably missed the point, but a little extreme for my taste
