Serve It Forth (Art of Eating)

A capturing taste of France, and food, too!
When I first heard of this writer, it was for a guy's Book Club, and I said "Who?" and "What?" and reluctantly set about to slog through 'Set It Forth'.Perhaps I had a greater appreciation for these essays having been multiple times to France, and an avowed Francophile, so I was soon captivated by the writings and the writers' point of view.Later I realized that I was reading a classic, and recommend to anyone with an appreciation of well crafted writing, intriguing stories some reminiscent of O'Henry, and some minimal empathy with 'the French'.A slim volume, yet full of content, it's easy to pick up a year or two later and randomly re-read a story.Definitely recommended.

An Underappreciated Star of 20th Century American Literature
Fisher's work is a true delight--highly informed and historically rooted. Her contribution to the 20th century literary scene is often overlooked, but it should be explored. This collection of essays is as much poetry as it is a lesson in culinary history. If you want a glimpse of truffle hunting spinsters and ancient Roman garum, read the book.

I found the writing very strange - the vocabulary and the way the sentences are written are an American interpretation of English of that period which I personally found very strange.
