My eighteen month year old, six year old and me all absolutely love Hey Duggee! Great DVD that will be watched over and over!
Until Hey Duggee, Peppa Pig and Ben and Holly were my favourite pre-school children's programs as they have something to entertain all ages. Narrated by the warm, rich and very distinctive voice of Alexander Armstrong with plenty of humour for children and parents too. There is brilliantly animated comedy timing along with some good moral messages and subtle social education. It will appeal to children 1 to 7 or possibly older.Duggee looks after children collectively called the 'Squirrels' at a preschool club. It's a bit like Brownies or Cubs in that they do an activity and learn something and get a badge in each episode to celebrate their accomplishments. The 'Squirrels' are five different animals: Tag the blue rhino, Norrie the brown mouse, Roly the grey Hippo, Happy the green crocodile and Betty the purple octopus. They all get on well, work as a team and treat each other equally, though they are very different animals with very different personalities, homes and means of transport for getting to Duggee's barn/clubhouse. A very good social message being put across. The visual humour really takes you by surprise too, causing plenty of laughter, giggles and smiles! I love Roly's sudden one or two word outbursts of excitement every so often. There is educational value in that the 'Squirrels' help, respect and care for each other, animals outside the clubhouse and also the environment around them. Two of these episodes are about the 'Squirrels' working together to rescue animals; a lost duckling and a cat up a tree. They do lots of different activities too, many of which will introduce toddlers and preschool children to things that they might get involved in like drawing, baking a cake, doing a treasure hunt, collecting fruit to make homemade jam or just pulling funny faces! The simple style of animation is laced with wit and perfect comedy timing and has us all laughing, even my eighteen month old daughter! There is great choice and use of music, sound and visual animated effects and I just love Alexander Armstrong's narration which completes what is a fantastic fun program for preschool children, that older children and adults will also enjoy too.So good I am happy watching the same episodes several times over! Now my favourite above Peppa Pig and Ben and Holly! If you like this, there is now a second DVD out called "Hey Duggee - The Tinsel Badge & Other Stories" which is just as great!Highly recommended.

What has Duggee got planned for you today?
Hey Duggee is possibly one of the best tv programmes ever made. Each episode is a small adventure with the squirrels, and expertly watched over by Duggee. At the end they earn a badge for the day's activities. Always fun, sometimes laugh outloud funny, and a joy to watch again and again. My one-year old loves dancing to the theme song and I like it more than I should admit as a 37-year old.A modern classic, A-wooof!

Great for both kids and parents alike
Duggee is one of those cartoons that parents can watch and enjoy as much as their little ones. It's extremely positive, well written and funny for both kids and adults. My 15-month old daughter loves watching it, each episode is only 7 minutes long so enough to keep her interested. You can try it for free on BBC iPlayer. Wonderful show!
