MICRO-MESH Fret Polishing Kit with Fret Protectors

I used this on a grubby and well oxidised set of frets. The two widths of guards kept the abrasive off the wood very well allowing me to polish them all easily, the rubber bands are unnecessary i just held them in place by hand. I dipped each cloth in water and scrubbed until all scratches were gone then moved on to the next finer grit. I used the whole set and the result is excellent. Lemon oiled after and restrung. It plays so much better and was well worth the effort. I left the sheets to dry after and they look like they would do several fretboards. I may come back and comment on that after I've done the next 10. Would buy again.

These sanding sheets are excellent but do not use those fret guards, they will scratch the lifr outOf Your fret board, underside very jaggy

Why have I never polished my frets before? You don’t even need to spend more than 2 seconds on each fret to get amazing polish. My guitars all play like a dream

It you buy anything other than a professional guitar (say at least £500 and often much more), your frets are quite likely to be rough and not properly finished. This was certainly the case with my Epiphone Swingster and 15 minutes with this kit has revolutionised the feel of the guitar. This kit can't make up for unevenly seated or poorly profiled frets but will allow you to polish the frets and give you a better playing feel, reducing noise and improving string bending. It's worth cleaning and oiling the fingerboard while you're at it (unless you have a lacquered board, in which case just clean it). There would be a limit to how many guitars you could do with this kit as the abrasives will wear out but I might buy bigger sheets of the two or three most useful gauges.

The micro-mesh paper is great, there is something so satisfying about polishing frets. However, I would recommend that you get some masking tape and cover up your frets, the "fret protector" leave small lines where the edge rubs onto the fretboard. Plus if you don't get some protection on the guitar you end up with really fine dust covering the frets.

Perfect addition of an invaluable tool needed in any guitar repair kit. Small, strong and will last a very long time. I have been using micromesh for 30+ years for many different jobs. From guitar repair to taking out acid marks on polished stainless motorbike engine covers.

Has really enhanced the finish on my fretwork. Very quick and easy to attain the finish you want -after you've done the heavy lifting with the files of course...
