What's the difference between 4n and 6n gallium? Plus, what are these typically dull grey streaks on liquid gallium's otherwise mirrory surface?

Hello Mr B, N stands for nine. So 4N is 99.99% pure gallium, 6N is 99.9999% pure gallium. We are unusual at Magnametals in selling both to individual customers on Amazon. The major reductions in impurities in our product are Cu, Ca and Al. Many pure metals oxidise when they are heated from solid to the liquid state to a greater or lesser extent, including bismuth, indium, iron, aluminium and gallium. This is what the grey streaks are. Is there any adverse effect to freezing this gallium? Can take forever to solidify at room temperature.

No, but it goes from shiny metallic to dull grey over time. I poured boiling water over it to melt it and put it in the freezer to make cast shapes, worked fine.

Hello, Yes, I can 100% guarantee that the product sent from Magnametals in the UK, will be in excess of 20 g of 99.99% gallium beads. These will be in a clear, flat bottomed screw cap container with an informative and visually pleasing label affixed to it. There will be a suitably sized high density polyethylene, flat bottomed screw cap container specifically for melting the number of gallium beads that you want to melt. In addition you will receive a pair of blue nitrile gloves to reduce contamination of the gallium and protect your hands from getting grey liquid gallium on them. You will also receive a full certificate of analysis, COA, showing other trace elements in the metal. This will have the exact weight to 2 significant figures (one hundredth of a gram) for you to check against. Finally, there is a material safety data sheet, MSDS, as well as helpful facts about gallium metal. Magnametals in the UK, are the only company in the world able to produce such high quality beads of gallium and send them super fast to anywhere in the UK so quickly. You should receive them in less than 4 working days, not 4 weeks from China. I have just read above, JYT of China admit that they just send one vial of gallium, not beads. If you want the MSDS you will have to ask them for it (by email)? They do not even mention the nitrile gloves, so they are not included. No mention in their reply to the question of a certificate of analysis, so that is missing. You are not able to check the analysis for toxic mercury, cadmium or lead contaminants. You would also not get all the helpful facts about gallium that only Magnametals of UK receive with our compliments.  Amazon should delist any bogus supplier from this listing or any other gallium bead listing in the UK or Europe. I repeat again that only Magnametals produce beads in their facility in the UK.
