Mallorca: The Finest Coastal and Mountain Walks - 70 Walks with GPS Tracks

Just spent 2 weeks in Mallorca and followed one of the walks in this book on most days. Great selection. Walks are easy to follow. We did lose the trail a few times but in all cases it turned out that we had not followed the instructions - the descriptions are very precise, clear and succinct. This brings me to another great feature......it is pocket (well large pocket) sized, so handy to whip it out when needed and still manages to fit in loads of walks, each with a map and altitude profile and descriptions of how to find the starting point etc.

Two big problems:- the password in the book to access gps data online doesn't work. I contacted the publisher to try to get the correct one and they sent them by email, but a day after I needed it.- I attempted a route without gps, got about 3 quarters through and the route described was blocked off, so had to find my own way back through a forest.I would avoid this until they have a new edition.

Lots of excellent ideas - nicely presented. Sone of the walks were very popular ones and there were numbers of people studying the same book! We did Deia to Soller in reverse which meant we were not walking with the hoards just standing back for them!

Bear in mind it's a translation from German so you need to excuse a few quaint phrases and a few spelling errors, but the content is reliable and varied and its suggestions are good. Mallorca has some wonderful walking territory. Steve Riches, Northampton, UK.

We've tried this book and it presents a number of good walks.The GPX maps are very handy if you have a GPS. The descriptions are variable and we found that the interpretation of some of the instructions open to debate. We resorted to tossing a coin on some occasions.

Absolute great book full of wonderful hikes. Seems to be quite a few variations of it though some have more routes and some the routes are slightly dif so makes it hard when co-ordinating with a group. Still has great hikes though.
