Good looks...but design problems
A while back I purchased three different designs of light fitting from the same manufacturer. Having just got round to installing them I'm writing the same review for all three as they all have the same pros and cons. They all look good, but all have the same design issues. As a recently retired electrician with 40 years experience, I'm more than a little surprised that some people found them "easy to install"... they're not.Firstly, a lot of lighting wiring now is done differently to before, with T&E cable replacing single. I won't go into the differences but basically it means more cables at your light fitting. This is why ceiling roses now would typically have nine terminals, and also to do away with the practice of trying to squeeze multiple cables into one terminal. These fittings all have 3 terminals. You need a minimum of 4 if you have the lighting system mentioned above. Even if you don't, trying to get multiple wires into one terminal is not considered ideal anymore. And when a cheap and cheerful ceiling rose you'd buy in your local DIY for a couple of €/£/$ typically has 9 terminals, why don't these fittings?Secondly, you need three hands, especially if what you're putting up has some weight to it.One hand holds the cables in position while the other hand tightens the connection with your screwdriver...so what holds up the light fitting while you're doing this?Yes it can be done if you're dexterous, but you're running the risk of your brand new light fitting falling to the floor if you're not careful.A lot of manufacturers address this by attaching a thin steel wire to the fitting. You clip it to the base plate thus holding the fitting in mid air while you make your connections.A lot of designers today appear to never leave their computer screen and actually test what they're designing in the real world. The problems mentioned above could easily be rectified with a little thought and minimal extra cost. As I said at the beginning I fail to see how people are saying they are "easy to install"?As someone who has fitted 15kg light fittings 40ft in the air on a windy day, I would disagree.

A lot of light, solid quality and style
Great downlight and spotlight combination in a stylish design, able to cover a variety of applications in the same room: general ambient lighting, wall art spot lighting, work space lighting - all at the same time! I installed 2 of these in a 20 sq. meters room and the amount of light is stunning - I expected a lot less from what is essentially quite a compact unit. Assembly and installation is straightforward, with the only problem I had to overcome was extension of my ceiling wires as they were too short to be able to connect directly to this light's base.

Excellent Design
This unit is excellent and packed very well, with individual components wrapped, separated and protected from damage during transit. The design and aesthetics of the fitting is very good, as there is just one U section bar to secure to the ceiling with two screws. The base of the unit then fits over two additional end screws in a simple bayonet fitting style, so very easy to fit and remove if/when required.Electrical supply to the unit is a three-way terminal block, so it’s worthwhile leaving the feed wires slightly longer, as its then easier to screw the wires and hold the unit at the same time. If you have an existing ceiling rose with additional feed wires, there is sufficient space in the base to group wires together in an appropriate terminal block. (an advantage many other fittings don’t have)Light output is more than adequate, with the advantage of having the 2 adjustable lamps on the side.I’m really pleased with this efficient and well-designed modern unit, and will certainly be looking at other product from the same supplier.

New Bedroom Light
The light arrived on time and well packaged so no damage.A little assembly was needed but nothing difficult even if you have no instructions which you do get.Fitting to the ceiling is not difficult I found, the only difficult part was fitting the two inner bulbs which is more fiddly rather than difficult. The whole experience was positive with the end result of a very classy looking new light in my bedroom. After looking again, to insert the inner bulbs you just remove the glass plate first - which I didn’t - and pop the bulbs in. Brain fade on my part I’m afraid lol.
