Doesn't really work that well, it didn't stop the insects from biting me!

This is my second review of the item. On my first review I did not score the product too highly as I had a problem with the pen style clip that enables you to attach this to your clothing.A few days after my initial review I was contacted by the company that supplies this item enquiring to exactly what the problem was and offering to send a free of charge replacement, plus they also included a Shoo Away (repellent for foods stuff) Free Of Charge.I can only Congratulate this company on thier excellent Customer Service (Tracey in particular)

The unit arrived on time and I fitted a battery, a low frequency hum was just audible. There was a cloud of midges just hatched half way down the garden so I decided to try out the device. I walked down the garden holding the unit in front of me, then it was strange. As I approached the cloud at about 6 Ft it moved away down the garden. If I stopped the cloud stopped. It was like moving a flock of sheep. At the bottom of the garden the cloud disappeared into the hedge. As I returned up the garden the cloud appeared again from the hedge and followed me back up the garden maintaining the same distance as before, and stopped at it's original location. I don't know if this was just coincidence or not. I will be going up to Kielder water next week so that will be the big test. I have had the unit switched on continuously for 3 days to see how long the battery would last and it is still operating so it appears to have a good battery life. Based on my experience so far I would recommend this product.

This gives off a clear, high-pitched whine which is audible - and I am pushing 40 years old and don't have remarkable hearing - but I could have coped with it if it worked.Sadly biting insects landed on me whilst I was wearing it and I still got bitten, so seems a pointless waste of money to me.

This product has saved my skin - Literally! I can now keep my window open of a night with this safely guarding and protecting me from being bitten.Its easy to use, it's Small, compact and discreet. It actually works!! No fuss easy to open packaging, recommending this to everyone!

I suffer badly from insect bites. I used this twice and was not bitten at all, the third time I used it it was missing from my belt when I got home (still no bites). It would have got 5* if the clip was stronger, or better designed.

On the plus side .... it is small and very light. On the minus side .... it took me ages to work out how to turn it on .... because on my repeller the switch on and switch off positions are the wrong way round .... so finally switched it to the off position and it works. Apparently, according to my partner, it is very loud; he was standing 6 feet away,and said he couldn't stand the noise ..... when I put it next to my ear I could hear it too .... but as the noise is similar to my tinnitus I couldn't hear it when it was close by. I have no idea if it repels mosquitos as I won't be able to use it if it is too intrusive for other people. The info on Amazon also states that it is suitable for mosquitos and gnats .... however, the product information that came with the repeller states that it is only suitable for mosquitos.I will continue to use the Lifesystems Portable Mosquito Killer which has been excellent and keeps me bite free.
