Cute & works but not a full service size cooking device
I bought this as a gift but I wanted it for myself also. I have forced the giftee to make takoyaki and yakitori with me so we could see how it did.It did not disappoint as a takoyaki pan. It gets hot. You fill in the cups with batter and stuff with meat (if you lack octopus I recommend shrimp, hot dog pieces, or squid! All are easier to find in the US than decent quality octopus.) it cooked everything solidly with that pan.The grill for yakitori option is not so great. So much fat/oil drips right down on the hot burners and it makes a stinky chunky mess. To be fair we also had an infrared indoor grill that has a non heated drip bottom to compare it to. So the odds were stacked. It doesn’t cook much and very fast so it’s great for small app sized snacks or as a party piece but don’t plan to make any meals on this guy. So tiny! Maybe a single person could make a meal on it.But it’s charming and does what you need it to do, even if you need to cover some parts with foil on your own. If you wanna try the three options without breaking the bank I definitely recommend.

Great grill for the price, with a minor flaw.
This is a great little grill with a couple of minor cons.Pros: portable - I can potentially take this grill with me anywhere. It takes no space. It is light and very easy to use.Cheap - for the price, you can't beat this. You can't even have a meal at a nice Japanese place.Cons:It doesn't get hot enough - I cut the meat really thin. But even then, it took a very long time to cook the meat. Eventually, I started covering it with a makeshift lid, in order for the meat to cook. (ok, so, our dinner turned in to a lovely conversation)Instructions - ok, so, I was able to use the grill straight out of the box. No sweat! But, still it would be nice have an English copy of the instructions. How hard is it to translate 2 pages? All in all, highly recommended!!! Especially for the price. Our dinner was very interesting and everyone got to make their own skewer.

Caught on fire within first use
Grill is not design for a big party. We had about planed to do 10 courses for 4 people and by the 6th yakitori- the grill was really dirty with grease stains so we decided to do the pork belly coarse last since it would produced even more heat. When we cooked the pork belly- sure enough- a lot of pork fat started melting off and the grill caught on fire! It was very scary- I eventually got a refund and would not recommend this for serious eaters. Our house stunk for about a week.

I wanted takoyaki and bbq for a long time so purchase this. It does produce smoke if heated for a long time and it doesn't have a temperature control. But good enough for small apartments (open the window and don't hear for too long). I have made several times takoyaki and Korea/Japanese one person bbq. I am pretty satisfied and good enough for party of three. The grill should only for non fat meat since fat oil light up fire.

Simple to use and compact, great for those with limited space or wanting a device that allows them to experiment on a small scale with this type of grilling. Getting a step-down transformer is advised if you're using it outside of Japan.

This product is Made in China. That being said it is a 100V appliance and I used it for the first time here in United States with no problem. The length is only 12 inch x 4 ins x 4ins. It is very small but good for 1 or 2 person (just eat slowly and be patient). There is a bigger version (Yatai Yokotyo Myt-800 29873 Electric 3way Plate Yakitori & Takoyaki & BBQ) but I only found out after I bought it. I have not try the griddle and the takoyaki pans yet. Small and compact to store. I am sure it is handy for outdoor camping too.Today is March 30, 2017.I have this stove for a while now but after I received a new question yesterday I decided to cook the Takoyaki and do another review. Everything works out great. The Takoyaki pan is nice and hot and food turns out delicious. I am attaching some photos

It's cheaply made, but it works well, and it's a lot of fun to make these right at the table during a party.Considering how low the price is, I am fine with the build quality being a little less than perfect.

My worst purchase ever
My worst purchase ever! All the non stick coating came off the grill top on first use and the electric bar burned out after about 20 seconds

Ne marche pas
Ma soeur vient d'essayer la machine et il ne marche pas. Deçu! Elle a dû le remplacer avec la plaque chauffante de la raclette

More of a novelty.
Okay if you're cooking really thin meats or vegetables. Don't bother if you plan on cooking actual yakitori because it's really slow.
