Excellent with one small downfall
I had the old model version of this that wasn't quite as feature laden as this one and it has worked perfectly for well over 10 years now. If comparing the two, this new model is now even quieter than the previous and is remarkably quiet which I love! In addition, it has a sensor to monitor the air and adjust the speed of filtration accordingly. It's amazing how I can spray a bathroom cleaner in the next room from where this is located, and within a minute, this thing is able to pick-up on the chemicals released into the air and alert me (via the orange or red light on the front of the unit) and increase it's speed to aide in the filtration process which tells me it's not only doing its job, but that it is doing it even more efficiently than the old model that didn't have built-in sensors and just stayed on the speed that I set it to. The only reason I did not give this five-stars is because the unit has developed this horribly annoying, squeaking noise (like a hamster wheel) that is non-stop. Makes you want to spray some WD-40 on it but you don't know where and/or how to do that or if that would even be the right fix.

$400 fan
Make yourself a favor - get a cheaper one. This is nothing, but a fan with 2 filters attached to it. You can buy any filter you like and tape it to any fan you like - it will be way more cost-efficient solution. I'm wondering what margin they have on these devices? Probably 200-300%, if not more.In terms of performance - hard to tell, "air quality" light is blue inside or out, so I suppose there is nothing to clean. Noise level is not that great - even on low it's rather noticeable in the bedroom. For the price - it doesn't even have a remote.Lastly, replacement filters for this run at around $110 ($95 for a filter 1183050K and $11 for pre-filter 8171510KS), so be prepared.Bottom line is - there are cheaper, way cheaper options to make my (presumably) already clean air even cleaner.

Don't buy a Honeywell get the Whirlpool
I would highly recommend this unit over the Honeywell air purifiers. If you do enough research you'll learn that the Honeywell purifiers don't remove a whole lot from the air. The Whirlpool has much better seals on the HEPA filters, and it is much quieter than other units I have bought. I would recommend this unit over others any day

Not Worth the Money
I bought this in August. My house is a little under 1000 sf. and I figured that the living room/kitchen is roughly 500 sf., so this should be perfect for that area. Wrong! It takes forever for it to get rid of any odors and I still have dust everywhere. There was a fire in the area a few weeks back and I could barely breath because this machine just wasn't cutting it. After the smoke had cleared, it took 2 days of running continuously on the highest setting for the light to finally turn blue. The last few days, it has been turning off at different times for no reason and when I try to turn it back on, nothing happens. It just turns back on randomly. I will be calling for service tomorrow. I have a Fresh Air purifier that I bought in 2005 but I didn't want to spend the money to fix it because it was old. Wrong choice. The Fresh Air purifier worked great for years, so I guess I will go back and buy new parts for it and go from there. Do yourself a favor, spend a little more and get a GOOD high ranking purifier with a great warranty. It will be worth it in the end.

An excellent air cleaner for removing smoke
Bought this to remove smoke from interior air during poor outside air conditions. It does an excellent job. No more coughing from asthma. The Whirlpool 2000 is very effective and much quieter on high than my Honeywells were on low.Within an hour the air smelled crisp and clean. It also doesn't produce ozone which most electronic air cleaners produce. Ozone also severely irritates asthma.

Are we all being bamboozled?
The noise level isn't anywhere near advertised, even in sleep mode it's pretty noticeable. I was surprised. Anything above that and you're turning up TV's and talking louder. As another reviewer mentioned it's pretty much just a glorified box fan with a filter. Definitely overpriced and I agree, at this price it should come with a remote. I also agree that buying a box fan and taping (safely) any filter to one side will be just as effective, if not more. At least the box fan would be pulling the air through the back. This unit, as well as many others, has the air blowing out of the top of the unit much more forcefully than it's pulling it in and really it's just blowing all the dust around. I can't see how effective this is with regards to removing dust and allergens. At this point I'll probably keep it, because the ambient noise (and some earplugs) help drown out my elephant neighbors upstairs but honestly in my opinion it's overpriced, may not even be doing anything and really should come with a remote. I haven't noticed a decrease in my allergy symptoms or any different smelling air other than the gas off of the unit itself after installing it. I also think it's pretty convenient that they removed the filter reset intervals and now it's just one light that will tell you when it needs to be replaced. So basically it could light up prematurely and cost you even more money. It's also a little bit ridiculous that there aren't separate settings for each fan speed, as you have to cycle through the fan speeds. If I'm on medium and want to go to low, I have to go through turbo first, thereby increasing wear on the motor unnecessarily. Not very well thought out. Gee, I'm not even an engineer Whirlpool. Are we all being hustled? Replacement filters are ridiculously expensive. They should be ashamed of themselves. BTW my overpriced, expensive new fridge sucks too lol. (Not a bias review, just saying 😆). I agree the margins on these purifiers must be huge for the company. One day when I'm rich 🤞 I'll buy an industrial unit. I'd pass.
