No more accidental pocket light.
Fenix lights are my go to. Affordable and take a beating. I really enjoy having the lock feature on the tail switch as I have run down batteries on other models by accidentally bumping the switch while in a vehicle. Very bright, I recommend to anyone who needs a tough long lasting light.

This Flashlight is a Fire Hazard
Do not buy this dangerous flashlight. My friend who lives in East Africa requested that I buy this flashlight and bring it to him on my recent trip to Tanzania. He struggled getting it to work properly for two weeks. It ended up burning a hole in his fleece vest and also a sweater he was wearing at the time. When I returned to the States, I asked for a refund from Amazon. They gave me 80% back.. There was no compensation for my friend's sweater. My friend describes below the flashlight's failings:I asked my friend if she bring me a new Fenix flashlight when she came to Tanzania. I have previously been using the Fenix LD 41 and have been quite satisfied but as a professional safari guide I wanted to try the more powerful Fenix PD36 TAC. Wendy bought the PD36 TAC for me and brought it to me in Africa.I noticed immediately that the barrel became very hot when in use. But I was trying it in different modes to see how the flashlight works.. I tried it at night and couldn’t get it to work properly. I put it into the pocket of my vest. I thought I had turned the light off. The next morning I found a burn hole in the vest pocket. The following night I was again trying to see how the flashlight worked. This time I am sure that I turned the light off before I put it in my vest pocket. The next morning I discovered another burn hole in the vest pocket. So two holes that burned clear through (pictures sent).\I then noticed that there were also a burn hole (incomplete) and a lesser burn in the sweater that I wore under the vest.I have to tell you that the battery in that model torch overheats to the point where it can ignite fires. I consider myself lucky that I was not set alight by the flashlight’s heat output. I put that luck down to fire-resistant qualities of the cloth in the vest. The Fenix PD36 is definitely a fire hazard and I feel obligated to report that to the proper consumer and regulatory authorities.Amazon has been good enough to provide Wendy Russo with a partial refund for the returned flashlight. But I would like to be compensated to buy a new fleece vest. Value with shipping is about $120. I am not asking compensation for the seater because it is an old one.One further note: there is no fire hazard warning in the voluminous information sheet you sent with the flashlight. Online instructions for use, returns, etc is too complicated to be understandable.BTW My Fenix PD 36, which has always served me well, suddenly stopped operating on the safari. Lose connection or burned out bulb… I don’t know. But if you see fit to compensate me with the equivalemt Fenix model available now (4 AA batteries needed to operate), I would be very grateful.I authorize Wendy Russo to receive of my behalf any refunds or compensation (whether money or products).Allen Bechky.

Nice lite, but ….
Has a very gritty switch. Don’t know if it’s normal to feel this way.

Good light
For the most part the light works well and has good battery life. My biggest disappointment is the switch. If the switch is not pressed straight down the inner components shift off center and the light will get stuck on. If this happens one has to push down on the switch with your thumb and try to bring it back to center while hoping it’s not permanently stuck in that position. This is the second light I received that had this issue. The first was an Amazon certified open box and I assumed that was the problem. After that I ordered new and it didn’t happen until I was past the 30 day return window.

My question was answered incorrectly
I asked whether this item used a BRC 18650 Lithium since I already have 4 of those including a charger. The manufacturer said that it did. It doesn't and futher, there's no disclosure that this is a battery with a built in charging port; I had no idea. Hence, I returned it.
