Pilot Max Robotic Vacuum Cleaner with Twin Brush Bars/Virtual Wall/Remote Control/Dock Charger, Plastic, White

After research, chose this for mid-range price. Never had robotic vacuum so a good starter. Good price from Amazon. Easy to set up and works well on hardwood floors and short pile rugs. Excellent at keeping on top of dust, pet fur, etc. Never got the hang of programming but Auto setting worked fine. Random coverage VERY random - often misses areas - but in general a great way to clean. As other reviewers reported, its still necessary to use conventional vacuum as needed, to go behind sofas, skirting boards, cobweb areas etc. Easy to clean after each use (good brush supplied), but inadequate manual. Noise level acceptable. Problem: just 4 months after purchase, Pilot Max suddenly stopped working. No trouble shooting clues in manual; I searched similar faults online with no similar fault. Emailed manufacturer requesting tech advice, then chased with phone call (answerphone). Brief email exchanges from AirCraft Vacuums offered no advice except maybe needs new battery - £39 to replace! They offered to do a “health check” if I returned it, but when I suggested the collection and repair would be under guarantee, communication stopped. THANK YOU AMAZON. Quick phone call, took details and next day replacement Pilot Max arrived. Returns label emailed for return of faulty original. New model is faster - and battery was already fitted. TIP - keep the circular brush screw tightened. There’s a reason the manufacturer sells (pricey) replacements! Fingers crossed this one will last - its a great product but I’m wary of manufacturer. 3* only due to early breakdown and worrying manufacturer response.

Love this guy! He's been lovingly called Rob-E and is basically one of the family. Incredibly simple to use and just a grand job. The rare times he gets jammed somewhere just make you laugh because it usually means it's chewed up a pair of knickers or something which we're left lying around. Most importantly, we don't vacuum ourselves anymore.

Terrible product. Useless if you have rugs as the vacuum always gets stuck. Pretty useless finding it's 'home' too to recharge too. Waste of money, avoid and pay for a cleaner!

It was great at first until it stopped working. Was told it needed a new battery. Bought a new battery and it still does not work.

This works surprisingly well for a robotic cleaner but in our opinion is not quite a substitute for a person. We have a large open plan kitchen/living room/dining room so thought this would be perfect after seeing it reviewed on ITV's This Morning. It gets the job done but takes a lot longer than a manual vacuum mainly due to the fact the journey it takes around the room is completely random. It also has a tendency to get 'stuck' in a particular area now and again if it is confined space which means you have to pick it up and reposition elsewhere.On the upside it doesn't crash into things, is great at getting into corners and running along skirting boards and is very easy to use. In our case it is great for keeping on top of pet hairs, despite one of our dogs taking a strong disliking to it straight away!So to conclude it will definitely lighten the workload but will still require you to nip round with a manual hoover every now and again if you want a thorough job doing.

This is an OK machine, it is great on picking up hair, dust and cat fur. However, it has a mind of its own where it vacuums in an ad hoc way, and because of this it takes ages for it to finish hoovering a room, I sometimes have to pick it up and put it into position where it missed. It stated that this vacuum scans the room before it vacuums, but I beg to differ, there is no method to it's madness the hoover is all over the place.I now need to replace the battery and I cannot find one, maybe I am not looking in the right place, or my search technique is rubbish. It is now sitting on it's dock redundant.

I got it for a friend and really he could not be happier!!! He loves this Vacuums!

Spot function worked for a couple of months. It ignored it's wall and fell down the stairs. After a year it stopped working totally and I don't know why. It may be the charging lead ... don't bother this piece of kit is to expensive to work so sporadically and for such a short time.
