Thick balm for face cleansing with recognizable ingredients
I don't wear makeup, so I didn't get to test the makeup removing properties of this balm, but I used it as a regular face cleanser. Because I like to wash my face in the shower, I applied the balm to my dry face before getting in the shower, wet and shampooed my hair, then used my damp hands to massage the balm a bit further before rinsing off. It didn't seem like it lathered much when I wet it but it did rinse off easily. The jar had a safety seal that I needed to pull off before opening, comes with a small spatula for applying (which I didn't use since I just dipped my finger into the balm, and an inner lid that will help it stay fresh. The balm has a consistency about like Vaseline but with more natural ingredients. It has a mild scent that's hard to describe - sort of a fruity floral. My skin felt soft after using but no more so than from using a creamy cleanser. For people who wear a lot of makeup and take it off at the sink at night, this cleanser could be useful but I prefer to cleanse in the shower so it was a bit of a hassle. The balm worked fine but I find its current price of $45 to be too much to spend on a cleanser. If I am spending that kind of money, I'd prefer to put it toward serums or creams that stay on my skin rather than something I rinse off. I could not find any expiration date printed on the jar.

This is a good makeup remover
I really like this makeup remover, it's really great on my skin and leaves my skin feeling nice and smooth. Doesn't dry out my skin while cleaning my makeup on my skin in the process.

Has Fragrance; not for sensitive skin
Unfortunately Amazon failed to mention that fragrance is an ingredient in this product. It irritated my very sensitive skin. There's also a strong scent that did not go away even after washing it off. It smells like the perfume section at Macy's. Hopefully I can return this otherwise I've just thrown $45 in the trash.

My favorite for dry, chapped winter skin
I love trying Korean skincare products because there’s always something new and unique. This cleansing balm is a good example of that. It goes on as a thick balm that does a great job removing makeup. Adding water causes it to foam into a more traditional cleanser so just a little goes a long way. At first I didn’t especially like the way my skin felt after the product was rinsed off – not exactly greasy, but very obviously heavily moisturized. The weather here has been very cold and the house has been extremely dry with the heat running all the time, leaving my skin dry and chapped. I find myself reaching for this cleanser every day. It’s not something I’ll likely use during warm weather, but it’s an absolutely perfect way to treat your skin when it’s very dry.

moisturized skin after removing makeup
Having used a few cleansing balms before I sort of knew what to expect. This is unlike liquid/oil makeup removers where you shake the bottle to combine the oils and then use a cotton pad to remove makeup. You don't need anything extra for this except to slather it on your face, add some water, then gently swirl and rub like any facial wash. The balm is supposed to "melt off" your makeup, dirt and grime.Although it says you can use it around your eyes, I have sensitive eyes so I was quite careful when cleaning off my liquid liner from my eyelids. There were still some eyeliner left. I've never really been able to entirely remove my eyeliner with a cleansing balm, but it could be because I tend not to spend too much time on that area for the fear of stinging my eyes. Even if the product doesn't sting, the tap water does, so I'm always in a rush to wipe my eyes with a towel. For me personally, this cleansing balm works great to remove makeup from other parts of my face but as I expected, it didn't completely strip off my eyeliner. The good thing about using a balm is that it doesn't leave your face feeling dry afterwards, and you feel like you have a level of moisture on the skin. I also like that it doesn't generate any waste, no cotton pads to throw away, no cotton wipes to discard - everything is washed away with water. If you look at the ingredients list it does have added fragrance, which is another reason why I don't want this stuff too close or use too much near my sensitive eyes.Overall this is a good cleansing balm to try if you like this method of removing makeup and cleaning your face. This is made in France.

Works great!
I love products like this as I wear long wear products that don’t like to come off. This smells like coconut to me and it’s really creamy. I apply it, add a little water and rub it in. Let it sit for a min or so and then add more water and wash. I always double cleanse to be safe but this really does a good job of removing my makeup on the first pass. Leaves my skin soft and smooth. Not irritated. I’m really happy with this!

Gentle facial cleansing balm of quality ingredients
I find the Erborian Centella Cleansing Balm to be a quality cleanser that is made in France. It is dermatologically and ophthalmologically tested. The cleansing balm melts once on the skin and feels greasy, so it removes makeup well. The instructions say to "gently massage in circular motion on a dry face, including the eyes, then lather into a milky veil with water before rinsing thoroughly." This cleanser doesn't lather up a whole lot, not like soap, but you will see just a bit of what could be described as lather once you add a little water. The cleanser rinses off clean and leaves my skin feeling soft. My skin also feels a little dry after use, but less so than other facial cleansers I use. I don't care much for the smell of this cleansing balm. It seems they tried to lightly scent it with a fragrance to cover the smell of the other ingredients. Luckily it's not a strong smell, and it's gone once I rinse off the cleanser. The cost of this cleanser seems a little high at $45 - I'm used to buying cheaper, lesser quality facial cleansers - but you get a fair amount of a gentle, quality cleanser (2.8 ounces) and I find that a little goes a long way.
