Very informative
This is such an informative book, it tells you all the reasons you might be suffering from your gut health and also shares the root causes to all this. Helped me understand a lot more my particular case with scientific data explained in an easy way for those of us who are not familiar with the medical/nutrition field. Fully recommended.

Plant based??
This book did not cover what it advertised. I am plant based and this book made too many references to meat products for receipts!

super important read
Many people don't know how important our microbiome in our GI tracts are and how sensitive it can be. This book is very informative and although it's beneficial for many people, vegan options aren't always the preferred route for many, so I wish there were more versatility to the dishes. It's not like you're gonna die eating grilled chicken.

Not great and not 100% plant based
Weird long stories and analogies from the author were not helpful and barely related back to the topic at hand. They should have been edited out. Speaking of editing, there were quite a few typos, including one that listed insulin as a type of fiber. This should have been INULIN. Yikes. Then when I got to the end where they finally talk about diet, plant based was described as mostly plants, but some meat and dairy is okay as long as you eat mainly plants. That's not plant based. Plant based means vegan... So if you're vegan, skip this one. Also, if you've already read some information online about microbiome stuff, then this isn't really going to give you much more info than you already have. I was hoping for a little more nuance.Things like SIBO were only mentioned a couple times in passing. They also rave about the benefits of fiber and fermented foods, but these can also influence your microbiome in a negative way if you have SIBO. They can feed the bad bacteria or cause an imbalance. This wasn't mentioned at all, and that seems like an important caveat to make...

A font of great information
A friend of mine has been complaining about all they symptoms that this book addresses, so I got it for her, certain that it will help. It is absolutely loaded with all the scientific and medical information someone might need, which will be of great interest to my friend and anyone suffering from "leaky bowel." Many, if not most, people suffering from this imbalance of microbes in the digestive system have no idea what the problem is, or how relatively simple it is to remedy. As the author points out, any change in lifestyle is stressful and difficult, that resistance may be the hardest thing to overcome. A more plant-based diet, along with at least some exercise, can work wonders, and this book explains in detail how that happens. There's no point in living a life of physical discomfort if a couple of simple changes can turn everything around, and reading this book can be a first step. And even with all the scientific information packed into it, Plant Based Gut Health Book is an entertaining read.
