5 loose oil filled button compasses. Measuring approximately .75 in diameter (20mm), can be carried as is, in a survival kit, or embedded in a survival bracelet, or as a replacement compass. Great for projects that need an embedded compass. NOTE: During shipping, the compasses magnetic charge can interfere with each other. In order to get compasses to set correctly after shipping, separate them and let them sit apart overnight.

they don't always settle very good, but a little tapping makes them closer to ...
One of them was backwards, but a strong magnet turned that around with a little work.So 4 out of five gets it four stars, they don't always settle very good, but a little tapping makes them closer to being very good. Not enough height internally to allow the disk to be able to turn unless it is at the right angle. But for the price, they are a bargain if you don't need anything super accurate. But how hard is it to make a compass that is going to work and be dependable accurate?I guess a little more money goes a long ways in getting something remotely quality, but the price is still right on them.

Good price, but tough to get to set correctly
Well, the price was great. I purchased these for a crafting/hiking stick project. If any of the compasses were within 8 feet of each other they would not read correctly, and in all 5 would be pointing in a different direction. It took some time for me to be able to get them to "set" correctly. Since they were meant for use by children it would have been impractical, and they would not have known North to know if it was correct.

Better Batting Average than Ted Williams
4 out of the 5 pointed in the general direction of North, which is a good thing. 1 seemed to feel there is a magnetic South Pole. Who knew? Anyway, the great Ted Williams only averaged .344; these guys averaged .800.

OK Compass for the money
These are OK mini compasses for the money. The movements in there are not great, so it takes al little bit to get the thing pointing North, but eventually it does. Would be great to work into some survivor bracelets or something. The quality for the money is decent, but if you're looking for a reliable compass, I'd recommend a pass on these as the movements aren't that great.

Air bubbles in all five
Air bubbleEach of the five has a air bubble. It is probable for the bubbles to get bigger. Not good for reading or accuracy.AccuracyMust be kept perfectly level. Slow to find north.

accuracy
Check these against a compass you know to be accurate before putting in your pack. I had one that was close, three where a few degrees off but one was 180 degrees out!

Meh
Smaller than I thought but that is on me. One had a huge bubble in it and wouldn't work. Three are ok after separating them for several hours. They point north. The last one won't orient itself to north.

just the right thing.
Have been looking for compass just this size for the list one on my hunting knife. Fit perfectly.
