Just what I was looking for…..
The media could not be loaded. Wanted a sound system for my home office. Not as computer speakers but for the room. My space is approximately 12x12 feet. I also did not want to have to outfit this system with multiple components (not enough room and not an huge budget). So I reviewed all my speaker options via the internet, considering size, cost, performance and adaptability. Enter the Q Acoustics M20, an active (powered) speaker system. These are solidly built speakers. Knocking on sides revealed no resonance. Setup was simple, but had to settle for stands that were not specific to this speaker (the Q Acoustics stands were out of stock seemingly everywhere). Connected to a WiiM mini DAC and a Music Hall Classic turntable the sound is neutral with wonderful detail. I played music (rock, classical, jazz, acoustic) at moderate and low volume levels. I am impressed by the overall detail, soundstage, and ability to fully engage me in the music. Things to consider, the remote works well except for changing the volume up or down (slow response) otherwise I’m ok with the overall control. Placement may be an issue for some. I have these about 12” away from the plaster wall and the bass is very good for such a moderate size bookshelf speaker. These may not be the best speakers for a desktop, too large. I also opted to use a heavier grade speaker wire than the one supplied. I am looking forward to getting back to enjoying the music. I now believe the era of excellent active powered speakers is here. Very happy. Recommended.Update: Hooked up a WiiM Pro Plus using toslink connection for streaming. With Qobuz these speakers are magic. Will next add a cd transport Shanling ET3 and connect with USB. Will report backAdded the Shanling ET3 cd transport. This unit is a top loading cd transport which I connected via USB to the speakers. Very nice solidly built unit with quality components. The only downside here is the manual but for pure listening, this unit has not disappointed. Makes the M20’s shine.7-31-24Love these speakers. Now have them connected to a Shanling cd deck, a Music Hall Classic turntable, along with a WiiM Pro Plus. Superb sound, depth, soundstage, with surprising bass. My room is about 12 X 12. I would not recommend these for a larger room. They play loud enough, but when pushed can show their limits. I've spent many hours with these and feel I made a wise choice. Mid range is crystal without sounding harsh, bass respectable, regardless of the source. Highly recommended.12-11-24Great sound from a compact powered speaker. Been reading some of the negative reviews. Complaints about bass response, controls, and auto power down. If you want more bass go with a subwoofer or a larger speaker, controls are less than stellar but very acceptable with either the remote or computer/phone/ipad. The fact that these speakers will power down after 20 minutes of non use is a plus for me. Worth noting is that they will automatically power up when I use my CD transport, phono, streamer. What’s not to like?

Little Gems
For a small speaker they certainly do a great job. They are an odd shape being tall and slim with a deep front to back profile. But with that said the design definitely works well. High quality material and a "sound" build, combine to make a high-quality speaker. Despite their size they do put out a lot of sound and are great when applied to desktop systems or a small room stereo. Speakers have their limitations and with that said don't expect these speakers to fill the volume of a large area such as a recreation room. I have mine set up in my master bedroom office and they work fine. I recommend these speakers for practical applications.

Q Acoustics M-20 used as computer speakers
I am using these with a 17" Asus gaming computer, mainly for YouTube videos. Have sub out hooked to an HSU 12" sub. Makes a nice little stereo music system. As mentioned by previous reviewers, these are pretty large for a desktop, being about 11" high and almost 12" deep. Since they are up against a wall, I use the included port plugs and the computer's equalizer to lower the 62 and 125 htz frequency range to take any boominess when using them as near field speakers. These are very neutral sounding speakers, which is what most audiophiles are looking for.( I have a full nine channel audio video system with floor standing fronts and two 12" subs, which I have put together and upgraded over a twenty year period.) Obviously the M-20s can't be compared with this system, however they are very good as a near field stereo pair.I use the 3.5 mm connection from my computer. As an audiophile I believe in old school connections between components (wires) as I don't believe wireless connections are as good. There is no hum or noise generated with this connection in my set up.The M-20s will turn off after 20 minutes of not receiving an audio signal and they will not default to the analogue setting. Using the remote you will need to power them back on and push the analogue button (ANA) to reestablish the connection to your computer if using the 3.5mm input. The remote works quite well, so is no problem for me.If Amazon gets these down to $375, which they were as a prime day deal, I will probably get another pair as speakers to use to improve my TV sound.Being 80 years old and having had many different sets of speakers large and small since 1962, I can highly recommend these as computer speakers or for improving your TV sound.

A Very Good Speaker
The Q Acoustics M20 HD are very high quality speakers in terms of their sound reproduction and built quality. The mid and upper ranges are well balanced. The vocal clarity and warmth are outstanding. The sound stages and instrument placements are unexpected from book shelf speakers of this size. The low end may not be sufficient for some music. I add a sub-woofer to complement the system that makes it very indulging in music listening, especially soft vocal jazz. These speakers are very valuable for the money.
