A below par smart watch
Mondaine Men's Quartz Smart Watch with Silver Dial Analogue Display and Black Leather Strap MH1.B2S80.LBFirst thing I noticed about this watch was it’s bulk. It’s a hefty watch. The next thing is the colour of the dial, it’s a strange grey colour and the small dial at 6 o’clock is in stark contrast to the dark grey colour. It’s a strange looking watch. It was not very comfortable on the wrist. It’s one of those watches that I just could not get comfortable with. I downloaded the app and at first it sunk quite nicely with the watch. The actual software of the app is quite good and it produces quite a nice Pictorial display of a walk. After a few days I had trouble syncing the watch with the app. For the price I was expecting something better. It’s very much behind the curve it seems to me of other smart watches. In general I would say that in my experience and research that Mondaine produce a nice watch case but the movements tend to be below par, this is no exception unfortunately.

Had to return
Advertised as water proof but had to send back due to the face steaming up after wearing in the shower after gym

Expensive but nice looking and comfortable timepiece, keeps good time but has 'Smart' functions that don't add to its appeal.
I am unsettled by this. On the one hand (no pun intended) it is a lovely looking watch. The strap is very good quality leather and comfortable in use. The watch has really clean lines and a beautifully clear Sapphire crystal glass. It is bigger than I would normally wear, but smaller than many modern watches. It has a two year warranty and an expected two year battery life, it is also water resistant to Three atmospheres (1 atmosphere = 33 feet). This model is a limited edition run of 1957 pieces commemorating the 'birth' of Helvetica. I was excited to see mine is engraved with 1 of 1957 before I realised they all have the same logo....The hands do not have continuous movement, but have a solid 'tick' defining the minutes and there is no second hand. The date is shown in the small circular window. It is not easy to read the date since only every fifth day is highlighted - 6,11,16,21,26 and 31.The crown wheel is the only method of control on the watch, clicking it picks up the blue tooth connection for pairing, which was very easy, and initiates transfer of data to and from the App necessary for its functions. The manual suggests the crown wheel has several positions: pressed fully in to maintain water resistance; and pulled out to adjust the hands, though I think it must cover more than one model because my crown wheel doesn't appear to move any more than to 'click'.The functions are; Sleep, Activity in the form of steps walked - and Coach. The App records these separately and reports the overall data in the form of goals achieved. These goals are set on the App by first creating a profile in which the goals are recorded. The Sleep mode is activated and ended by holding down the button for 3 seconds at either end of that session, and progress toward the goals viewed by pressing it twice. Coach is basically there to encourage the user with tips and progress advice. The sleep mode is indicated on the face when both the small (the black and the red hands) are at the twelve o'clock position indicated by a moon icon.Otherwise the larger black hand shows the date whilst the smaller red hand is the percentage of the activity achieved. My unsettledness then is that on the other hand, it is awfully expensive, the smart functions are cumbersome to use and do not really require the watch, these two apps are available free in various forms on my smart phone and I just wonder why I need to involve the watch. I like that the blue tooth allows adjustments and time zones, but personally I would prefer a backlight and a decent date window with an easier to use alarm on the watch itself.JC

Good looking, connected watch
This is touted as a Smartwatch although it is not quite on the par of an Apple watch in terms of what it can do. That said, it has a 2 year plus battery life. The analog display is nice a clear making it easy to see. The smaller display shows your fitness progress for the day (more of that in a minute) and the day of the month. The Smart element works with an app that is available for iPhone and Android. The watch connects with the app to record steps, sleeping patterns and enables you to set targets for these. You can have another time zone is use that you access by two taps of the button. The hands then move to the alternative time zone and then return by themselves after a few seconds. You can also set alarms, be that for waking you up in the morning or giving you a short power nap. The alarm can be set so that it wakes you when you are in light sleep, giving you longer if you are in a deep sleep. Obviously, to track your sleep you need to wear in at night, or at least, have it under your pillow. It works very well and once used to its functions is great to track your activities. All in all this is a nice looking watch that has hidden functions that are not readily apparent from it's look.
