Product Description A thirty something slacker suspects his parents of setting him up with his dream girl so he'll finally vacate their home. .co.uk Review The plot of Failure to Launch is utterly implausible, yet the movie is thoroughly fun. Tripp (laid-back Matthew McConaughey, Sahara, Dazed and Confused) is a 35-year-old man who still lives with his parents (Kathy Bates, Misery, and ex-quarterback Terry Bradshaw)--and they aren't happy about it. Eager to get him out of the nest, they hire Paula (Sex and the City's Sarah Jessica Parker), a professional motivator who feigns relationships with boy-men so that their improved self-esteem will lead them to leave the nest. But Tripp's not the usual insecure shut-in Paula's used to, and as sparks fly, Paula finds herself losing her professional distance. This sort of set-up drove classic screwball comedies of the 1930s and 40s; once you embrace the absurdity, the movie zips along with a surprising balance of humour and bittersweet shadings. Failure to Launch gets a huge boost from the supporting performance of Zooey Deschanel (Elf) as Paula's housemate Kit--part sourpuss, part tomboy, and entirely sexy and winning. McConaughey and Parker have enjoyable chemistry and carry the movie well, but Deschanel is an oddball romantic-heroine-in-waiting. Also featuring Bradley Cooper (Alias) and Justin Bartha (National Treasure). --Bret Fetzer

Harmless
McConaughey is a 30+ still at home, his parents (Bradshaw & Bates) hire Parker as a girlfriend to encourage him to move out. She then ends up falling in love with him, but he ends it when he finds out what her job is. Do they work it out? I won't spoil the end of the film, what kind of a girl do you think I am?!This is a real middle of the road film. It's a good concept, which fuels the story along as to when he'll move out & as we realise Parker's hung up on him. There are some really funny moments, especially with Zooey Deschanel as Parker's flatmate. The pacing is fine. But I didn't love the ending, they get locked in a room together in the hope they'll work it out...?!! It's just not enough of a climax for me hence missing a star.

I love the film, but not impressed.
I bought this, and it came pretty quick. But I'm appaulled that the case is literatlly shredded, the top half of the case is ready to fall off. The disc was jumping around in it, thankfully it's not scratched. It was never placed correctly inside. Now, that may be the delivery's fault, but I think the company I bought it from needs to put more protection other than a thin layer of bubblewrap and an envelope!Buy it through Amazon! Not PriceMania.

Fun Comedy
If taken as it is intended - a light comedy about the failure of mid-thirties men to leave home - then this is a fun if quickly forgettable hour and a half viewing.Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker star as the failed to launch and the mixed up launcher, though there is little on screen chemistry between them and ultimately they "fail to launch" themselves. It is left to the supporting cast, especially Zooey Deschanel and Kathy Bates to save the film and they turn in excellent performances to do so as Sarah Jessica Parker's room mate and Matthew McConaughey's mother respectively.Overall, a decent twist on the romantic comedy genre and a bit of light fun viewing.

An intelligent RomCom
I am an old chap so normally avoid romcoms, but I've watched this one several times. Intelligent funny, the sub plots are nearly as interesting as the main, and the characters are believable (except of course for the strange things that people do in order to create a bit of suspense, and then to have a happy ending (sorry if I spoiled it for you -- but it is a romcom so you probably guessed).
