Class A: Book 2 (CHERUB Series)

Compelling Read
This is the second book in the CHERUB series and is as gripping as the first. This time James is on a mission to become part of Europe's biggest cocaine drug gang in an attempt to bring down its drug lord, Keith Moore. This book was a real page-turner with lots of dangerous and exciting twists and turns. The descriptive way it is written made me feel very involved with the story and characters - I would even find myself holding my breath in anticipation at times. As part of this undercover mission, James and the other teenage undercover spies (Kyle, Nicole and Kerry) become friends with Keith Moore's children. This is where things get difficult for James as he becomes very close to Keith Moore's son, Junior. The story also shows that whilst criminals can be cunning and nasty, they can also have a likeable side to them. In this book, James is forced to realise that situations are not always black and white and he has to make hard choices in terms of what he is supposed to be doing.Muchamore deals with some hard issues in this book - the drug trade, guns and violence, however I think it is good that these issues and their consequences are dealt with in books for teenagers as they are important in todays world. Muchamore also manages to combine this with some humour and normal teenage issues such as teenage romance.I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would highly rate it to other young teenagers

He does like reading, but generally at bedtime - these books ...
My 11yr old (almost 12) boy absolutely loves this series. He has devoured the first three books in no time at all and is very eager to get the others in the series asap. He does like reading, but generally at bedtime - these books where being read at any time of day and I didn't have to 'suggest' he go and read! He's a boy who doesn't like Harry Potter at all, loves Michael Morpurgo, Horrible Histories and Malorie Blackman books and Skulduggery Pleasant. Hope that helps!*Update* My son continued right through this series of books and has now just completed the final book in the series. He loved each and every book in the series. I would just like to point out though that the later books do have lots of swearing and a more teenage feel to the content. While we're OK with this (it's only what he hears on a day-to-day basis at secondary school) I do appreciate that other parents may not be.

Brilliant read
I chose 5 stars because the book and the series gripped my attention when I was 12 years old now I'm not far off 24 and I still find myself being drawn into the book and the series all over again well done Mr muchamore

perfect gift
I was struggling to find a gift for a 13 year old boy, but I knew he enjoyed the Alex Rider (Horowitz), Hover Car Racer (Reilly), and Tomorrow (Marsden) series of books. I read the Amazon reviews and noticed the 'yes it won an award' sticker and ordered the first two in the CHERUB series. I always read the books I give away (judge me as you will :-) ), and even though I think the target group is miles away from a 38 year old woman; I couldn't put this book down. It wiped out my Saturday, and all my other plans were cancelled. Wow! What a great read. The plot moves very fast, is completely action packed, and totally believable. I think I am sorted for this kid's Christmas presents too; the next few in this series!
