The Soulmate is a lacklustre domestic drama.
The chapters are brief, but the story became slow and repetitive in the middle. The revelations are too convenient. Pippa, as a lawyer, should have shown exhibited better morals. There are gaping plot holes with not-so-great twists and an ending that caused my blood pressure to shoot up. I would have preferred a different ending. Something more befitting to the lead couple.I read The Lie in Our Marriage by Anna-Lou Weatherley earlier this year (same genre) and I loved it much more than this.

Becomes very absorbing
After a somewhat gawky start with info dumps and a relationship that sounds a little too good to be true, this settles into an interesting groove. Mental health issues play a big part and Hepworth writes well about the strain they place on the nearest and dearest. It’s narrated mostly by Pippa, the main income earner in her little family and mother of two small girls, but also by a dead woman who fell off a cliff - a suicide spot called The Drop. Or was she pushed? Flashbacks gradually reveal past choices and lies that result in present problems … good plotting. What’s becoming noticeable in recent Aussie books is the welcome increase in characters of diverse backgrounds, which is truer to our multicultural society. So here we have a Dev and a Mei. Another main character is the media mogul with some shady financial backing that he’d rather not become public. It’s his wife who did the Dropping and she has some interesting things to say at the end about death and life success.

Sally Hepworth is an amazing writer!
This was gripping right from the beginning. And I admit, I was expecting the ending to disappointment me, because I couldn't figure out how you'd wrap something like this up. But I was wrong and I did not see it coming. The twists are calculated and unpredictable. The ending had me gasping!Hepworth delicately touches on dark and tragic circumstances throughout the book, as well as the impacts of mental illness on people, their lives and their relationships. The ONLY negative thing I can say about this book is sometimes Amanda and Pippa's POV sounded very similar. So for me, their personalities, the way they thought and the way they told a story were indistinguishable. It's something I usually don't like because it confuses me, but luckily, in this book, their stories were different enough for it not to be distracting.Otherwise, I loved this book. The setting is so vivid, I could picture myself standing on the edge. And the characters are brilliant.

Not as engaging
I've read every book of Sally but this one wasn't her best work. About half way through it dragged to the point I couldn't keep reading. I read her books in 3 days max, this one took me a fortnight . It just dragged on and on without recapturing my attention. You are better off reading another one of her books, she's an amazing author.

soulmates
A gripping story about two couples and there relationships & their connection. Gabe & Pippa are a couple with two girls going through ups & downs of life.Amanda & max are a married couple with a different relationship with no children. The then & now moments & how it was written, I couldn’t put the book down. Highly recommend.

Great read
Liked the way it was written, back and forth. Was in suspense to see what was going to happen to the "villian" and was happy with the surprises. I don't overthink it so maybe others might not lIke pace or already "know" but I am going looking for more
