Mattel GamesSaucer Scramble Game

I bought this for my 5 year old's birthday and was a major hit with him and his 7 and 9 year old cousins. His younger siblings are 3 and still get the concept of it and enjoy the excitement of the game. It seems like none of his friends have it, so it has become an awesome "go to" game for visitors. Note: it needs to be played on a hard floor in order for the machine to properly shoot out the plastic saucers. Also, the plastic saucers do get worn down after lots of play (especially with younger children) which is why I think they sell more separately.

Fun game for my kids.

All the discs go into a compartment and then spins into the air. It comes down kind of in slow motion.It is one of those fun non competitive games. I have two complaints. We've had to return one already after a few minutes of play. It wouldn't get the disc into the other well to spin. (It might've been handled roughly while putting the unit on the floor.) I hope this next one lasts longer. It would be nice if the box was designed to store the game more easily. All in all it is fun!Edited to say (5/2010): We still love playing this, but one of the catchers have fallen apart (possibly due to my 20 mo). We have also had to order more discs because they keep disappearing! I believe the discs were $2 for a set of 16 which is reasonable, but shipping was $5! Overall, we are still happy.

UPDATE 5/23/12: Unfortunately I have revised the star rating on this game after our second saucer game has started the loud pitched squeaking and misfiring of saucers after just a little over 3 months use; the first saucer started doing this after about 4 months use. Of course, I doubt the creators of this game intended it to be used several times every day! Still, given that the spaceship just sits and shoots out the saucers, you'd think it wouldn't start falling apart so quickly. I seriously doubt we'll order a new one as the price has doubled and it's just not worth the cost. Since we now have two squawking spaceships, I may take one apart to see if anything can be done to stop the noise and misfiring.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I needed a toy that would require minimal attention from me so I could do other things without being harassed to play all the time by our young cat who we still consider a kitten. Well, not only does it entertain Lily, her much older step-sister, Jasmine Flower, loves it too! The two elder cats, Jak and Ginger, don't chase the saucers, but if one should fly and land near them, they'll agreeably play with it.The saucers sometimes get jammed and we're alerted by the loud clicking sound, so it does require a little attention by a human from time to time.I think the description mistakenly said the game came with batteries, but it does not.Overall, a great entertainment for our kitties.I contacted matel online and they emailed me where I could buy more replacement sets of saucers. I've already bought another couple of sets and plan to buy more. It's easy to lose them in the house, and since I don't plan on doing deep searches until I clean and vacuum once a week, the spare saucers will be a must for us. :)

This toy is the most fun we have had in ages! I gave it 5 stars for educational value because it provides good hand-eye coordination practice, helps with balance and large motor skills. That is why I bought it - but it turned out the whole family loves it - even the 70 year old gramma! My only complaint would have been that the discs are easy to lose, but [...] sells replacement discs for $2 per set - you can't beat that. Great toy, very durable, and a ton of fun.

Saucer Scramble is definitely a hit! Discs fly out high and slightly hover so the players get a fair chance to catch the disc in the cone shaped holder. I found the 3 year old, 8 year old and Grandma all playing this at the same time! Game teaches coordination, color matching, and counting. The product itself runs very effeciently on batteries and is playable in or outdoors. I am purchasing this for a 2nd time for a 5 year old girl as a xmas present.

The toy is great fun for adults and children of all ages. It is a little difficult to catch the discs but the kids don't seem to mind. Only downfall was ours stopped working properly after about 12 turns of use. The motor was not going full speed and the discs would not shoot off very high. It also made a loud screech noise.

This game is way too much fun for kids. I'd reccomend hiding it and playing after they've gone to bed!

C'est un jeu qui demande beaucoup de reflexes, les soucoupes fusent dans tous les sens; quelques fois rapidement, d'autres fois plus lentement. Moins drôle en appartement car il faut bouger pour les attraper mais si on a de la place, c'est un jeu très amusant. Les soucoupes se bousculent quelques fois à la sortie, une simple petite "claque" sur le couvercle les remet en place. Mes enfants de 3 et 6 ans y jouent toujours avec plaisir. Petit bémol: repérer où tombent les soucoupes car après il faut les retrouver.....

This game raised a lot of laughs in our house, adults as well as kids. Suits children from about 3 upwards. It has lost one star only because the top on the holder is not very strong and after lots of games some of themhave broken. I would recommend this game highly.

Super jouet, dommage qu'il n'existe pas de recharge en soucoup', elles se déforment rapidement et s'envolent partout si on ne garde pas un oeil dessus.
