Rather not for beginners and covers only: celtic, ottonian, Romanesque, gothic, Renaissance: white vine and neo-classical. It’s a detailed manual. I recommend this book.

it is clearer than a bible for sure.the book sets out to explain various styles of letters, and give step by step pictures of how it is done.from celtic old style through to romanesque, renaissance and contemporary, its all there.even for experienced readers it is still informative.lots of letters inside to set readers into projects.every page is in colour, illustrations are clear, its like a giant work book.not sure about some of the colours schemes though, but i am nick picking here.if you copy everything once, you would be a master illuminator for sure!

A beautiful ring bound book. A reference work for calligraphers or just to have if you are interested in illuminated lettering and the history of art.

Perhaps the title is a bit over the top but this book has a good selection of fonts and examples of illuminated letters to go with them. All with easy to understand instructions. Overall a good introduction to the topic and a book that will stay with you for many years to come. The stay flat open binding is also a big plus while working with the book.

Beautiful illustrations. Even though I May never copy the writings it’s a lovely book to have and I’m very happy with it. :)

The information inside the book is well worth the buy, however book is slightly damaged it has a small puncture on the spine of the book aswell as lines where a pen has been pressed against the cover. Inside the book all the pages at the lower right corner have been folded too.
