Please don't hesitate to buy this machine . I use a recumbent bike at the gym on doctors orders , I broke my hip 10 months ago and it is only just healing . I find this machine as useful as the gym one if not better . I have a comfortable sofa and a television in front of me , I don't even know I am exercising . It is sturdy and straightforward to assemble makes No noise and was packed well !!! . It doesn't move on my carpet which I was worried about , I ordered a mat too but I don't need it , I've been away to get undressed and digital counters have returned with a small rotation of the pedals so I can carry on where I left off ! I really love it , burnt lots of calories already , my granddaughter age 11 has had a go and thinks its cool . I had the last black one as I think it "mingles " in with the furniture , there are colours left but maybe more black ones will come in , its worth asking . I have only had it since 11 o'clock this morning , it's now 9 at night and I am thrilled with it . Will be pedalling away in the morning while I'm eating my breakfast , I want to loose weight for the summer months . Hope this helps anyone who is not sure , yours Susan .

I purchased the Gymmate instead The original MagneTrainer because of the price difference and the modifications that have been made to this version of this Mini exercise bike.My heal caught on the rear bar of the ManeTrainer when cycling sitting on a high dinning room chair,. The Gymmate model features an adjustable rear bar to give better clearance for your heals and make it more stable.I found the highest gear setting is quiet low compared to recumbent bikes used in the home or gym, but for anyone that is recuperating from and operation or long term illness this bike will be a really good buy, and help them return to a better fitness level without going out of the house in all weathers.I think it's a really good little excise machine

This is a really great little exerciser in terms of stability, ease of use and resistance. Unfortunately the one I had developed a loud squeak after a couple of months’ use and I’ve had to return it. It’s a real shame that this happened as I was finding it really great - I’ve not struggled anywhere near as much with reconditioning as I might otherwise have done with being in lockdown due to COVID and I actually think my fitness has improved due to it. However the squeak is just too irritating for me to put up with and also makes me concerned it’s an early sign of a larger problem, so I will be looking for a different brand now.

This piece of equipment exercises legs or arms when one is sitting at home in a fairly substantial chair. It is smooth and quiet so that I can watch TV at the same time and I also find it possible to read whilst pedalling. It was easy to assemble once I had worked out which was the back and front (the manual was not clear) and it matters as the two pedals have different threads: the left must go anti-clockwise and the right clockwise. There is an indicator for speed, distance, calories or time. It is important to learn the correct method of cycling by using a circular motion rather than pushing away as the latter could cause the the bike to slide - I have not found creep a problem on a carpeted floor. It is bi-directional, forwards or backwards, so that different muscle groups benefit. The resistance can be altered within limits by turning the knob on the front though, if you want a wide range, the more expensive Magnetrainer could be the answer for purposes of rehabilitation, for example. I find the Gym Mate perfectly satisfactory for my requirement of general fitness: the cost of this item and an extra TV to entertain me as I cycle came to less than my gym membership for a year!

Latest on my GymMate... 29th May 2015. After 2 1/2 months of fairly gentle use, the left pedal has seized up completely. Prior to this the machine has been OK. Can I get replacement parts for this machine? Generally a good product, but it would benefit from a carrying handle or strap on the top, rather than the fairly useless grip on the front of it. The equipment is of necessity quite heavy, and therefore reasonably stable, but this can make it quite awkward to lift and carry about.My most serious problem with the GymMate is the mechanism which increases the pedal resistance. Firstly, in the instructions provided, there is no mention, at all, of the how to adjust the resistance. The adjustment wheel is plainly visible, but guidance is required in this very important area.Did anybody check the instructions?Staying with pedal resistance, even if I tighten the wheel to its maximum, there is very little increase in pedal resistance. Not enough to provide a modest workout, or to build up the quads, which is my main requirement, after suffering an illness which caused severe wastage in those muscles.

At 94 and with severe problems of balance and dizziness, normal exercise is limited. My consultant suggested an exercise bike, so I looked at 6 cheaper models - the Amazon reviews were very helpful. All seemed to have some problem, so I looked at dearer models. The GymMate seemedideal, so I ordered one. Made in Taiwan, it arrived very well packed, and assembly was easy. It is heavy (11kg) and so very stable. It has wide front and rear 'legs', both of which can be adjusted to-and-fro to suit available space. Movement is very smooth, and the clever magnetic resistance is adjustable by a six-turn knob. On assembly, the 4-function display slides easily onto a peg, with a connection plug ready. I use it against a wall, and there is no problem at all about stability or sliding. In Amazon's list it is described as a 'quality exercise bike', and everything about this machine echoes that. There is even a choice of 5 colours. If there was a 6-star rating I would give it that, so 5 stars will have to do.

This was bought as a gift. However it is being returned for a refund as the description is very missleading. It does not change any chair into an excercise cycle, the chairs must be of a certain height. I would not have bought this had I known as it was for an older person to use whilst sitting in a comfy chair .

Perfetta per chi come me non sopporta di stare a lungo seduta su un sellino tradizionale, non ha assolutamente nulla da invidiare ai modelli classici, perché è molto solida e la forza della pedalata risulta identica. Anzi al riguardo sottolineo il fatto che è possibile, eccome, variarne l'intensità agendo sulla manopola anteriore, per cui immagino che quanti segnalano il contrario siano sfortunatamente incorsi in un modello difettoso. Il mio soddisfa perfettamente, anzi direi supera, ogni aspettativa anche riguardo alla stabilità, pur nelle dimensioni contenute che la rendono molto facile da maneggiare e riporre. Insomma davvero non potrei essere più soddisfatta e ne consiglio vivamente l'acquisto.
