Effective solution to the problem
I have not used this tool on plasterboard... However I am sure it would work well as I have used it on Fermacell - a much stronger lining board. It has performed well, being quicker and much easier to control on board edges compared with my rasp. It cuts both ways and is prevented from 'falling off' the edge by its guide rails. These rails turned out to be a nuisance as I particularly wanted to smooth external corners - the rails made this job impossible. Having decided that I could not easily prise a rail off I had to buy the other version of this tool: It is the more useful choice for me.

Essential but should have got non railed one
I borrowed one off a mate once and was v impressed. Much better than a regular surform.I was torn between the handyness/safety of the guide railed version and the non railed which can get into spots this one can't e.g surface planing.I got the railed version and guess what i needed to do on my first job with it ;(I'm going to grind the rails off it when i get a moment
